I've been using SIS for years, never had any G.I issues from either the standard gels or the Beta fuel. Both options have a good variety of smooth tasting flavours. I had never subscribed until recently, now I have a monthly supply of all the fuel I need at a very good price with all the convenience of it being delivered to my doorstep. All in all, a great service

I like SIS gels for marathon and ultra training, and I recently ordered a new (new to me, not to the brand) flavor, apple. After a 16 mile run, during which I consumed mostly SIS gels for fuel, I felt really weird with a racing heart and breathlessness. After examining the package, I discovered that this flavor has 200mg of caffeine in it, and I had consumed multiple packets! I completely overdosed on caffeine and felt awful the rest of the day. Although SIS says its label “nootropics” is intended to “signal caffeine,” I don’t know why they wouldn’t just say “contains 200mg of caffeine” on the front of the gel, like other brands do. With other gels that might only have 25-35mg of caffeine, it is clearly written and highlighted on their packaging. This SIS gel says on the back, under directions (and who reads directions on a gel?) that only one should be consumed per day. These are sports gels, which athletes might typically consume several of over the course of a long endurance effort! Maurten, Gu, and all the other brands clearly state on the front of the package not only that they are caffeinated, but often how much caffeine is in a gel. I am a seasoned runner, and this was not my first time with SIS gels or caffeine or long runs. But I feel like the packaging on these gels is not only unhelpful but actually dangerous. I paid for my experience the rest of the day and into the night, and the disrupted sleep because of the overdose resulted in me paying for it the next day too. SIS needs to clearly state on the front of every gel package if it has that much caffeine in it, and if it’s a gel that should only be taken once a day! I am disappointed that in their response to this review, the company dug in instead of acknowledging that their packaging could be clearer, as are so many of their competitors’. Nevertheless, I like and will continue to use SIS gels because they work for me.
