I had a very disappointing experience with this platform. I chose the installment payment option specifically to spread the cost over time, but instead, the full amount was withdrawn from my account at once. As a result, my funds were blocked for 30 days, causing unnecessary financial stress and inconvenience. This completely defeats the purpose of offering installment payments. The process was misleading, and there was no clear warning that the full amount could be charged and held. I expected a reliable payment service, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the platform. I would not recommend this service based on my experience, and I hope the company improves its payment process and communication to prevent other customers from facing the same issue.

One is a temporary authorization (hold); this is not a charge and you do not pay this amount. 1. It is simply a pre-authorization, which is standard for many other types of purchases on your credit card (think hotels, gasoline, etc.). 2. The other is the first installment charge. 1. Each month after, your installment payment is automatically charged until your plan is complete. Splitit installment plans work using your available credit card balance. That is why the temporary hold on your credit is necessary. As a first-time user, I wasn't sure exactly how it was going to work. But it turned out okay. It is reassuring to know that you will not be charge until after you receive your good or service, especially if you are not familiar with the seller.

One is the temporary authorization (hold) on your card that guarantees your purchase. 2. The other is the first installment, which is charged immediately. We have not charged you in full; what you are seeing is the temporary authorization hold, plus your first payment. With Splitit, you get the benefit of only paying your monthly installment, plus all the benefits of paying with your existing credit card, no new loans or any additional fees! Best option. Allows me to split my payment over time rather than one big bulk payment. Was able to get what I needed on the spot without feeling guilty for the amount I spent. Process was super easy and smooth.
Service is nonexistent, practices are unclear
Customer service is atrocious. Its days of talking to the bot, no phone service, and the only response is that they will escalate it. When they respond via email and you reply, you will not get a response. The part that needs to be clearer is that they will hold your auth for up to a month, in addition to rerunning and holding your credit every 21 days for the life of the payment plan. This is fine for people who have the credit available, but a struggle for folks who are using them for accessibility reasons. Trying to disentangle is impossible as again, the service is nonexistent. Even the bot is unhelpful. In response to your reply, I have done as requested. If my account can resolve I will update this rating accordingly. EDIT- Today was the first response I received after emailing support AGAIN; the company responded here on 7/12 and I promptly reached out as requested. It is now 16 days later and the only response I got to my email, which explicitly stated that I was asked to reach out and escalate my account, was a recapture of my account's current state. To be transparent, my funds were held for a total of 14 days, and I was informed that they would be holding it again in another 7 days. I gave up and paid in full.

Greetings again Sarah, The best way to resolve the issue with the outcome of your plan is to reach out to the Merchant directly. They have the authority to issue refunds or make adjustments to your plan. I'm very sorry that we cannot move forward with a refund without permission from the Merchant. If you need help reaching out to them, simply login to your account on the Whop orders page and you can find the Merchant contact details.
