Haybox

MOULDY HAY

I had some hay in February 2024 and there was what appeared to be tissue paper chewed up in the box. I reached out to Haybox who kindly apologised and sent a replacement. I didn't open it until July 2024. Used some but the chinchillas were not as impressed as they usually were. Couple of weeks later I pulled some hay and found a chunk about a foot long, 4 inches wide, 3 inches deep of stinking MOULDY hay. I was furious, my chinchillas are my babies and this could have killed them. Once again I contacted Haybox who told me it may be the way I was storing the hay. I have had hay for my pets for 30 years and it has never been mouldy before -pretty sure I know what I'm doing! When I pointed this out I was told that had I paid more for handpicked hay, I wouldn't have had the problem. Why? Are you admitting your regular hay isn't fit for purpose? I asked to speak to a manager- funny, I haven't had any contact since, despite chasing them about 3 times. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! As long as they have your money they don't care. Since then I have found The Happy Hay Co - really great help and so very different to haybox!
