I had booked a number of hotels through Agoda for our trip to Australia but became concerned following a bad experience with a hotel in the UK about how issues were managed. On that occasion (UK) the price changed when we got to the hotel l, check in time was different and when we eventually did get access to a room after 2.5hrs the room was dirty and unkempt (having paid the additional fee to the hotel). Support from Agoda was poor from the start. They eventually paid me some compensation (for the additional fees) but it took a number of messages and eventually an email 2.5 months later to accept that there had been a problem. I cancelled the hotels in Australia as a result (that were not non refundable) as I was concerned about this hapoy again whilst we were travelling. We have had 2 out of 3 hotels in the last 3 days who have been brilliant no issues. However our most recent booking was a rerun on the UK experience with the added downside that Agoda thought that a helpful resolution would be to cancel the booking without our agreement. Again we had been 2 hours waiting in reception for a resolution, had by then missed an event that we’d hoped to attend. I would suggest that when it works it’s great (but to be honest it is sometimes cheaper to book direct on checking) but when it doesn’t it is very disruptive and left us both with a bad experience and a horrid day on what has been a good holiday. Sadly things that would and could have been resolved a few years ago are now far more complicated and the lack of engagement does not help. I will not be using Agoda again.
