Avoid sharing bank details with them

I shared my bank details to pay for french lessons. In addition to the price of lessons they used my bank details to debit my account £39 a month. The first month I had agreed to but I did not agree to a continuous payment authorisation (CPA) at the point of sale. They nevertheless continued taking £39 a month out of my bank without my knowledge or approval. This is entirely illegal under UK consumer protection law. When I requested they refund the payments I had not approved, they did not dispute in their written response that they had acted illegally but nevertheless refused a refund. My bank are now pursuing a dispute with them to demand the money back. Strongly advise against sharing bank details with them.
