I've been a paying ClickUp customer for…
I've been a paying ClickUp customer for over three years, and unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my opinion of the company. I accidentally added a client to my workspace so he could access one single table containing his documents. At no point did I receive a warning that this would trigger an additional charge, despite already being on a paid plan. As soon as I noticed what had happened, I immediately changed his role to Guest. The activity logs would clearly show that his access was extremely limited. After this dispute, I even checked my email and found that I had never received any confirmation or notification when this user was added to my workspace. Had ClickUp sent one, it would have served as a record of the role originally assigned to the user at the time he was invited, making it much easier to verify exactly what happened. I also noticed that ClickUp doesn't send me invoice or receipt emails when it charges my account. This makes it even harder to keep track of billing events and creates unnecessary friction whenever a billing issue needs to be reviewed. I also wasn't notified that VAT, which hadn't been collected before, would suddenly start being charged, which resulted in an additional charge of USD 100. Despite explaining the situation, offering evidence, and pointing out that this was an honest mistake that I corrected immediately, Jejomar, the ClickUp support representative handling my case, rejected my refund request. After more than three years as a customer, I expected a company of this size to value long-term relationships instead of rigidly enforcing charges that could have easily been resolved as a goodwill gesture. What disappointed me the most wasn't the amount of money, it was the way the situation was handled. Customer loyalty clearly wasn't taken into account, and the support experience left me feeling like my years as a paying customer meant very little. As a result, I won't be renewing my subscription. When my current billing period ends, I'll be moving to SmartSuite, which, based on everything I've heard, genuinely values its customers and takes a far more customer-centric approach when honest mistakes happen. If you're considering ClickUp, I'd recommend paying close attention to how it handles billing and support issues, not just its features. They're just very sketchy!
