Snapmaker

The 350 is a great machine, BUT

The 350 is a great machine. I use it primarily for laser projects. The 3D printer works great. I have not used the CNC side yet. But, as noted below, there are a lot of issues that need to be dealt with regarding the laser side. Basically Lubar simply is feature poor, with some serious bugs. Compared to other lasers (including the Ray maybe) that use Lightburn, using Lubar is like riding a snail out to dinner. Come on Snapmaker, please focus some time on fixing your software OR provide an interface to Lightburn. Bugs to fix: 'Constant power mode' checkbox is 're-checked' automatically whenever a snaplzr project is reloaded on all of the images in the project. Until I realized that, I was ruining projects and wasting wood. Now it requires the headache of going though all the images and unchecking the box. When a project is saved, it should stay as last used. The field for setting power (0-100) needs to be more secure. If I put a % into the field, and try and scroll down the process setup with the mouse wheel, the % entered starts changing to numbers with the wheel movement. That is bad. Take out the number control using the wheel and rely on only an entered number. 'Show/not show’ is lost when saving project. When turning off an image, it should stay off even if saved and reloaded. Saves to wrong file name. Randomly I will save a project as another name, only to discover that my changes are modifying the original file. When editing the names in an entry box, you should be able to highlight the contents and type over it. Presently some of the entry fields require backspacing to remove the info, and others work as they should (highlight and edit or retype) Crash of head on rotary when parking the head (40w unit). I had the rotary unit in and used the PARK feature to move the 40w head down to take off and clean, only to have it crash into the rotary. I busted the plastic shield, but the emergency stop button saved it from a lot more damage. Your code needs to detect the rotary unit installation and prevent parking or avoid coming down too far to crash. Modifications needed: Lubar needs square/round Cropping features. Too often I bring in images that interfere with neighboring images. A circle crop would take care of that. Lubar needs an eraser in the edit images part. Lubar needs more font control. That should include being able to allow words and phrases to curve. In changing the laser engrave order in Lubar, it should have the ability for the mouse to simply highlight a line and move it up or down. Using the little up down box is simply old school. In setting new Process Parameters, Lubar simply should allow the user to either copy or create a new parameter to add to the list, instead trying to take the one created and assume it will be used on the object. Lubar needs to accept layers like Lightburn. AND it is time to create an interface to Lightburn like the Ray has. The bottomline is that Lightburn is a lot more robust than Lubar and would be a great upgrade for the laser feature of Snapmaker (using the USB connection) Also, the 40W head needs a quick release air hose adapter to help in removing it for cleaning. I have the big fan on my 350/40w unit, and it is REALLY loud. A speed control would be create to adjust down a bit. I am likely to reinstall the original unit or try some rubber spacers to see if the enclosure box is amplifying the sound. Great fan, but sounds like a jet taking off
