Total Lack of Support
I bought a 48V 96Ah LIFEPO4 battery in May of 2024. When I put the boat in this spring, the battery died after about 20 minutes. I recharged the battery to full charge with the appropriate Dakota charger. The battery died again. This has happened 4 times. I contacted Dakota via their website Tech Support questionnaire 6/15. Called on 6/17 and got a voice mail indicating that it would be over 2 weeks to get back to me. No one responded in any way to either inquiry. Subsequently, I emailed them on 6/23 and 7/13. I also called again on 7/16. These messages included details of the voltages taken, charger used, outboard motor and time to failure. I have yet to hear any acknowledgement from Dakota. Right now I have $2600 boat anchor. Based on their lack of communication and support, I can not recommend this company to anyone! I am amazed at their lack of communication and acknowledgement of my correspondences. I am not if this is because the battery is under warranty and the issue is likely with the BMS in the battery. For anyone that buys a Dakota, I say good luck.
