I wanted to warn other Mac users about my experience with Microsoft Office. I purchased a perpetual licence for Office for Mac 2019, but after briefly subscribing to Microsoft 365 and then returning to my Office 2019 licence, the experience has been extremely frustrating. Basic functionality has become unreliable, and it has been surprisingly difficult to get Office 2019 working properly again. It leaves me with the impression that Microsoft has created unnecessary friction for customers who want to continue using software they have already paid for, rather than upgrading to Microsoft 365. I'm planning to replace my MacBook Pro later this year, so I don't want to buy another Office licence in the meantime. If you're considering subscribing to Microsoft 365 while you already own a perpetual version of Office, be aware that switching back may not be as straightforward as you expect. Based on my experience, think carefully before making the change.
