Cheap tickets with a side of credit card fraud
I found TravelMerry through a search engine when looking for cheap flights for my wife. I ended up booking with them due to it being the most affordable option. The process was a bit convoluted - they charged some of the fare up front, then had me send the rest in a separate transaction. They did eventually get the flights booked and I was able to confirm the booking with the airline with the confirmation code and everything. However, a few days later my wife's email account was blitzed with hundreds of emails from random government accounts. I suspected that some sort of scammer was attempting to bury an important account password reset email, and I ended up checking all of my account statements. I found a car purchase in a different state on the card I had used with TravelMerry. I contacted the dealership to let them know of the fraud, along with my card company, and ultimately they sorted it out. However, there was exactly one purchase that used my credit card with my wife's email address, and it was TravelMerry. My wife's trip was fine, but I'm quite certain that someone at TravelMerry used my payment information to commit credit card fraud.
