A CHUWI CoreBook Failure — Poor Quality, Poor Support, and Serious Design Flaws
Purchased: CHUWI CoreBook (Feb 2025) Outcome: Failed within months after being left unused for only 10 days. Quality Issues The laptop died simply because it sat idle for a short period. Meanwhile, my 20-year-old Dell XPS still boots after years of inactivity. CHUWI’s hardware clearly lacks long-term reliability and proper engineering oversight. Customer Support = Non-Existent After sending videos, serial numbers, and everything they requested, CHUWI’s only solution was: “Send it back for repair at your own cost.” No replacement battery, no alternatives, no help. When I pushed back, they ghosted me completely. Serious Data Security Concerns CHUWI designed the CoreBook so the SSD cannot be removed without voiding the warranty. This means you must return the device with all your data still inside. For a modern manufacturer, this is unacceptable and raises real security concerns. Terrible Internal Design CHUWI included a small “upgrade hatch,” but it only gives access to the RAM — not the storage drive. Most users choose their RAM and CPU upfront. The storage is the part you run out of over time. Yet CHUWI made storage inaccessible without a full teardown. It doesn’t feel accidental, and it certainly doesn’t inspire confidence. Influencer Hype Led Me Here I trusted an online tech creator who praised the CoreBook, but influencers don’t deal with the consequences when products fail. Lesson learned. Cheap Brands Often Cut Corners This follows the same pattern I’ve seen before — including with a CFMoto motorcycle that looked great on paper but fell apart after its first service. CHUWI’s spec sheet is the bait. The real product is not what it appears. Final Verdict Laptop died after 10 days unused Support demanded I pay for return shipping No removable SSD (your data is trapped) Poor quality control Ghosted by support Misleading design Hype doesn’t match reality I strongly recommend paying slightly more for a reputable brand. CHUWI is not worth the stress, risk, or disappointment
