AMC Theatres

Discrimination Experience:

Discrimination Experience: Honest review of a horrible experience we had at the AMC Mission Valley 20 in San Diego. My wife and I work very busy professional jobs and our children are on summer break. Our youngest loves movies and we decided to get an AMC A-List membership which allows us to see multiple movies a month for a membership fee. We saw our first me last week and our son wanted to see the latest Karate Kid movie. There was only one theater is San Diego showing the movie and only one time. My wife and I saw that July 3rd was the last day it was showing and July 4th it appeared the movie would not be playing anywhere else. We BOTH took vacation days from work and booked our tickets using the APP. Today we went to the movies and purchased the Karate Kid concession package excited to take our 13 year old. When we got there he walked quickly to the admission clerk and showed him his ticket on his phone and she told him that he wasn't able to enter because he had to be 17. I told her that the AMC policy was 13 and she said no it wasn't it was 17. She then directed me to the help area and a manager was called. The manager, Dia-she refused to give me her last name, told us that he had to have an ID. He showed her his school ID as he's 13 and doesn't have a California ID. The movie was starting so I asked her if we could just go in. She said no and she said she had to look up the policy. She spend many minutes on her computer helping other people not prioritizing our ask. We were very upset and felt very mistreated. We are US citizens of Mexican decent. We witnessed many people being helped while she tried to find the policy. After ignoring us I just asked her if we could go it. We were getting upset because we were not 20 minutes late to the movie she told me to relax because the previews were still showing. She then told me that he couldn't go it because he wasn't 17 and after 5 more minutes we were just so upset by her dismissal of us finally she said she found the policy and 13 year olds could be A-List members, but my son and wife were in tears so we just left. We missed the beginning of the movie and decided to leave this business that clearly didn't want us there.
