EaseUS

Do not use EaseUS to clone your drive in a UEFI environment

I used EaseUS to clone my 1TB HDD onto a 1TB SSD on a Win10 system. I had read many positive reviews for EaseUS, and watched countless YouTube videos showing how easy it was to do before buying a license. Unfortunately, nothing could have been further from the truth. The 'Disk Clone' utility malfunctions badly and made a complete mess of the partitions on the new drive, creating some of them as the wrong _type_ as well as a different order. In addition, the boot information was created with missing and incorrect entries that pointed to the wrong place. A Windows recovery USB drive and the Windows repair tool could not fix these problems. All of the EaseUS online help (and YouTube videos) for boot problems after an EaseUS disk clone simply repeat well-meaning (but out of date) advice on how to fix MBR boots, which will not hurt, but are not going to help in a GPT/UEFI environment (e.g. Win10). After two days of struggling to repair the boot issues manually with diskpart and bcdedit, I bought a copy of Macrium Reflect X, repeated the clone process ... and it booted first time with no problems at all. Like, zero problems. It just worked. Based on this experience, and the obvious errors I saw on the cloned disk, I cannot recommend EaseUS for disk cloning. BTW, one of the worst problems (when trying to figure out what has gone wrong) is that you can't see what EaseUS is doing - apart from a 'time remaining' indicator, you can't see what partitions it is creating, and what it is actually writing, unlike Macrium Reflect. MR also includes a recovery drive option that provides a specific tool for analysing and fixing any boot problems you might encounter (which I didn't, but I created a recovery drive just in case). In short, save your time and your money, and use Macrium Reflect.
