Order Cancellation and Shipping Responsibility

I placed an order for a Super Bowl shirt on Monday morning, the day after the playoff game. With the Super Bowl still two weeks away, I selected standard shipping (3–7 business days), which should have been sufficient. Later that same day, after reviewing the order confirmation, I realized the estimated delivery date was February 9 — the day after the Super Bowl. This was unacceptable, especially considering the order had not shipped and was reportedly going to take up to three days just to be sent out. Before the end of that same Monday, I attempted to cancel the order due to the lack of any guarantee that the shirt would arrive on time. Despite the order not having shipped, I was told it could not be canceled and that only a cancellation request could be submitted to the warehouse, with no confirmation or guarantee. If it takes multiple days to process and ship an order, then either the company should upgrade the shipping at no cost to ensure timely delivery, or allow the customer to cancel the order without issue. Refusing both options places the burden entirely on the customer for a problem that could have been easily resolved. I ordered this item specifically for the Super Bowl. Being told it would arrive after the event, while also being denied the ability to cancel, reflects very poorly on your customer service and order fulfillment process. I am requesting that this issue be addressed promptly, either through cancellation and refund or an appropriate resolution. Customers should not be forced to accept late delivery for event-specific merchandise just because they cannot get it ship the next day.
