Left many of us at the mercy of paying high prices
I migrated my existing courses to Teachable in 2020 on an annual plan of $348, which included unlimited courses. At the time, this was an ideal option for a growing business just getting started. However, at the end of 2022, I received notice that this plan (unlimited courses) would be downgraded to a limit of only 5 courses. By this time I had already developed 20 courses and in order to continue offering access to currently enrolled students, I was required to upgrade to a Pro plan (yet limited to 25 courses) at $1,188 per year. This left me with little choice but to upgrade. Over the following years, the pricing continued to increase. By 2025, I was paying $1,668 annually for a plan still limited to 25 courses. Not only had the cost increased significantly from my original plan ($348 a year), I no longer had the flexibility to continue creating new courses. Expanding beyond 25 courses would have required upgrading to a plan costing $3,708 per year. Additionally, price changes were communicated with only 30 days notice. In my experience, this is not sufficient time to migrate a full course library and student base to another platform without causing disruption. The amount of work involved in transferring content, students, and communication requires significantly more time to execute responsibly. It felt as though Teachable was aware of how complex and time-intensive it is to migrate a school, which left many users with little practical choice but to continue paying the increasing costs. From my perspective, the combination of increased costs, reduced flexibility, and limited notice created a challenging and frustrating experience. I have since migrated my school to LearnWorlds. A platform that offers so much more and is reasonable in pricing. The transition required a considerable investment of time and effort, but I am ultimately relieved to have moved to a platform that better supports the needs of my business and provides an overall better experience.
