Dear Course Support Team,
I am writing to apply for a full refund of the automatic renewal charge deducted today via my credit card.
I originally planned to cancel this subscription before expiration but forgot the operation accidentally. After this renewal deduction, I have not logged into the course platform, watched any lesson videos or used any course services at all. I have already turned off auto-renewal completely now.
Credit card last 4 digits: 5489
Billing date (August 7)
Cancellation date (August )
School URL:speak English with Vanessa
Please approve the full refund and return the payment to my original credit card account within 3-5 working days.
Waiting for your formal reply and refund confirmation.
Best regards

Hello Shelly, thanks so much for taking the time to provide your feedback! I see that you're interested in receiving a refund for a product purchased from a school hosted by Teachable, and I'll be happy to reach out to you directly to help advise on next steps!
That said, I noticed that your review includes some personal information, including payment-related information. For your privacy and security, we’d recommend editing your Trustpilot review to remove that information. We’re not able to remove or edit the review on your behalf, but you should be able to make the changes directly through your Trustpilot account.
I'll be in touch shortly! Thanks again!
Customer service very helpful via first Ai chat and then agent via email.
Thank you.

Hello Wendy, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your support expereince and we truly appreciate you choosing to use our platform.
I began using Teachable several years ago. I slacked off during Covid; I regret not going full steam then. Now I'm back into Teachable. It's like an old, powerful friend. I will make Teachable courses out of every live course I have ever presented. I've tried other platforms. Not one holds a candle to the power...and support...of Teachable.

Hello Leslie, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We're very glad that you had a good experience and we very much appreciate you choosing to use our platform.
Teachable was good many years ago when it was under the original owners. Unfortunately they got bought by some Brazilian company named Hotmart and they went downhill hard. I unsubscribed to them about a year and a half ago, and 6 months later they told me I owed them around $250 because they supposedly underbilled me for a customer refund in 2019 (yes, when the old company owned it). But the balance in my account was $0 the entire time, and there were zero emails sent to me trying to get me to pay prior, despite me being a customer for 5+ years after that date. This didn't stop them from threatening to send it to collections in 30 days on the first email they sent me. I demanded they showed proof and they couldn't show any, or even respond, so I figured it was over. Lo and behold, 6 months later they sent it to collections. I demanded the collections agency showed evidence too, and they couldn't respond with either it and it was dropped. This was an asinine experience that says every bad thing I can imagine about this company. It's no surprise they now have an F rating with the BBB.

Hi Sean, we're sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how concerning it would be to receive a billing notice or collections communication if you believed your account had been fully settled. Because billing matters can involve account-specific details that we can't discuss in a public forum, we'd like the opportunity to review what happened with you directly. Please reach out to us at [email protected], and our team will be happy to investigate the billing history and answer any questions you have. We appreciate the chance to look into this further.

Teachable is an good platform for education sessions
Teachable is an excellent programme for tech savvy teachers/educators but not for those of us less informed. I think it is particularly US-centric. Especially not suitable if out of America.
Once you get past their chat bot Sunny, the service is superb. Sunny was largely a waste of my time.
If one is selling many courses, it’s worthwhile but perhaps not if just a trickle.
The set up is reasonable. The list of buyers well displayed.

great. The problem is that you don't have MERCADO pago integration.

7 Months of Core Feature Failure, Legal Threats for GDPR Compliance, and a Gag Order Demanded as Settlement Condition
I have been a paying Teachable customer since early 2022, currently on the Advanced Plan ($3,708/year, paid November 2025) running an online school with 50+ courses for students worldwide (with the majority based in Europe). I am writing this review after more than four years on the platform, following 7+ months of unresolved platform failure and a deeply troubling legal process.
THE PROBLEM: Since October 2025, Teachable's media infrastructure has been broken for Android users globally — audio files cannot stream through the platform and can only be played after being downloaded manually. Teachable's own support agent (November 2025) acknowledged the issue and suggested format changes. We complied. The problem persisted. Pre-October 2025 files still work perfectly — proving this is a platform-side regression, not a file format issue. Teachable has confirmed the technical defect in writing but has been unable to fix it for 7+ months.
THE GDPR ISSUE: During the investigation, Teachable's support representative requested EU student IP addresses five times (Feb–Apr 2026) without providing any information about sub-processors or data transfer safeguards. When I formally requested the sub-processor list as required under GDPR Article 28, Teachable's legal counsel threatened to charge "administrative fees" directly from our business account for raising this compliance question — a clear misapplication of GDPR Article 12(5), which applies only to data subject requests, not controller-to-processor obligations.
THE SETTLEMENT ATTEMPT: Teachable offered a refund + extension, but conditioned it on us signing away our right to report ongoing platform defects — effectively a gag order. We declined. Their final response: "Teachable has no comments and reserves all rights."
RESULT & CURRENT STATUS: Due to these unresolved infrastructure failures and hostile legal tactics, we are actively migrating our entire school and all 50+ courses to a competing platform, ending our 4-year relationship with Teachable. A GDPR complaint has been filed with the Lithuanian Data Protection Authority (VDAI), and a credit card chargeback has been initiated. Seven months of paid service, broken core functionality, legal threats, and a gag order demand. I cannot recommend this platform to any serious educator, especially those with international students.

Hello Milda, thank you for sharing your experience. We take all feedback seriously, and we want to provide context for anyone reading this review.
Over a period of several weeks, our team sent this customer eleven written responses addressing each concern raised, including the technical issue, data processing questions, and related policy matters. Each item was investigated and responded to individually with specific references to the applicable terms and policies. The user's issue related to the file format of her lessons (https://support.teachable.com/en/articles/15590342-fix-audio-that-shows-0-00-or-won-t-play-in-your-lessons).
We also extended a goodwill offer that included both a refund and a service extension. That offer was not conditioned on waiving the right to report platform defects. It included a standard mutual release of claims related to the dispute, which is customary in any commercial resolution.
Regarding the GDPR reference, Article 12(5) was cited only after numerous repetitive inquiries on points already answered in detail. It was not invoked in response to a first-time compliance question.
We remain willing to work toward a reasonable resolution. Our support team can be reached at [email protected].
f I could give Teachable zero stars, I would.
I have been a customer for nine years and, unfortunately, I have watched the platform decline significantly over time. What was once a creator-friendly educational platform has become increasingly expensive and difficult to navigate from a customer service standpoint.
Last year, I paid approximately $400 for my annual membership. This year, I was charged $820 for what was described as an “upgraded” plan. The increase was shocking and completely unexpected. It took me nearly six hours to get answers regarding the charge and my account options.
What ultimately led me to leave the platform was learning that the only way to downgrade to a more affordable plan would require me to discontinue access for approximately 400 students. As an educator, that was not a reasonable solution.
To Teachable’s credit, they did refund the charge after I contacted them. However, the overall experience made it clear that it was time to move on. Customer support is slow, communication is difficult, and there appears to be very little flexibility for long-time customers who simply want an affordable way to maintain their courses.
The platform itself is easy to use, which is the only reason I am giving it any credit at all. But after nearly a decade as a customer, I no longer feel valued. The pricing structure, lack of accessible support, and pressure to move into more expensive plans have convinced me to take my business elsewhere

Hi Joie, thank you for sharing your feedback and for being part of Teachable for so many years. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience left you disappointed. We are glad to hear that you found the platform easy to use and are glad our team was able to assist with your refund.
We understand that changes to plans and pricing can have a significant impact on creators and their students, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Your feedback has been noted and has been shared with the appropriate teams.
Teachable has great support that is fast, and to the point. They clearly are maintaining a great space for not only their customers, but the customers of their customers! Highly recommend them.

Hello Patrick, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We really appreciate you choosing to use our platform.
Looking to relocate my online course to another platform. Frustration is now at maximum. Having to solve the same problems over and over again. It's OK to have a problem, but why are we having to solve the same problem over and over again? Customer Support is severely lacking. First in the sense of just trying to get a response. Second once you do get a response the representative is equally mystified at the problem. It's their platform, not ours, which means they should be the ones creating solutions to problems not us, the client. Teachable is not the only game in town, we're searching. I whole business depends on this platform operating that optimum levels and we're so far from that optimal level. We definitely have to switch platforms.
