NRG Transportation

Price Hike Despite Signed Agreement

This is the initial message I received: "Hi, this is Bryan Wilson from NRG Transportation. I received your request and can have your vehicle shipped safely for 400 dollars all-inclusive. The price includes: Door-to-door delivery Full insurance coverage All taxes and fees 24/7 customer support No upfront payment Up to 150 lbs of luggage included Everything is covered with no hidden costs. What pickup date works best for you? +1(716) 650-6826" I replied: "Thanks for the quote! To make sure everything's clear, could you please send me a contract with the all inclusive price of $400 via email to t*****@aol.com? I just want to have all the terms locked in before we proceed." He replied: "done" "When would you like to ship your vehicle ?" I replied: "Does tomorrow work for you?" He replied: "Yes" This is when I thoroughly looked over the contract before signing it. The next day, 4/3/2026, he gives me his first excuse of why he cannot deliver: "Update: Driver ended up stopping by a local shop since there was hub seal oil leaking on of the axles. He has to get it checked for safety reasons. As soon as he is out, I will let you know about the new ETA. Give me 2hr max pls, if he isnt out by then, we will try to send a different carrier for today. Will keep you posted. Thanks" His next excuse: "They ended up ordering parts from another shop so he had to cancel" "I will get you someone else" (Bryan Wilson superimposed an image of the hours for Copart) "for Monday" Sunday night, 4/5/2026, came and then Bryan text me this: "Good evening. Just confirmed a driver to pick up tomorrow and deliver next day. However one more thing to confirm with you. The market is really bad right now due to sudden increase of diesel prices and on top of that there is an increased inspection activities going on which is causing a delay and shortage of drivers in every area. I was able to confirm only this available driver who can pick it up tomorrow around noon and he is asking total $850 as the final price for the spot on his trailer. Can I go ahead and book it for your VAN?" Today, 4/6/2026, Bryan Wilson of NRG Transportation text me: "Here is the updated contract for $800. Pls sign it. I will cover the spot on the trailer as soon as it is signed." "Good morning" "We will do $50 discount for the inconvenience but this is very big vehicle and diesel prices are going up. That is why drivers are asking extra on the rate" I replied: "I have an existing agreement. I will not sign another. Please deliver my vehicle as agreed upon." He replied: "We are the middleman here. The contract is your authorization for us to work on your behalf. Without it, we can’t post your vehicle to the national load boards or negotiate with drivers. It’s basically the green light that lets us start the process." "but we dont own the trucks to be able to give the final price or time" "it was an estimate but now we have a confirmed driver" I replied: "Your contract did not state any of this. I thoroughly looked it over. What time can I expect delivery?" Then I resent him a copy of the contract and also resent my original text: "Thanks for the quote! ...I just want to have all the terms locked in before we proceed." He replied: "In that case I will keep looking once I find someone around the contracted price, I will let you know" I replied: "Okay, thanks" He replied: "You can expect the delivery for tomorrow if you can pay $800. Otherwise, I will keep you posted" I replied: "There were others who guaranteed cheaper. I did not expect the unexpected from you. Why did you not disclose this information before you issued me a contract? It was your choice to 'hussle me' when you did not have to. " "I will not pay more than the agreed upon price and I expected delivery on 4-3-26." He replied: "pls check with them meanwhile. I will guarantee the same thing will happen cuz we all work under the same system with them" "All brokers giving an estimate. Drivers dont reach customers directly" I replied: "Not with a binding contract." He replied: "You are working with a middleman here sir. Think of it like hiring a real estate agent. Signing with them doesn’t mean your house is sold that day. It means they can start marketing it and negotiating with buyers. Same here. The contract allows us to market your shipment to drivers" I had a signed contract with Bryan Wilson, of NRG Transportation, for a four hundred dollar rate, after confirming that was the all in price. They were deceptive from the start, knowing they would hike the price later, and showed no regard for the signed contract. They failed to show up on the agreed date, forced me to wait indefinitely, and then demanded eight hundred fifty dollars, claiming the original price was just an estimate and that all brokers do the same. Unprofessional, dishonest, and I would not recommend. Is this NRG's common practice?
