Tin Leg

TinLeg Comes Through Again

I broke my femur last September while in Northern Italy. After surgery, I spent 9 days in the hospital and 19 days in a rehabilitation center before I was physically able to fly home on a commercial airline. The day of the accident, my husband immediately notified TinLeg. He spoke to them several times during my four-week stay just to check in. Since I was receiving appropriate medical care, they told him there was nothing for them to do. Just keep every receipt for the future claim. When we got home we had our in-take consult over the phone and were sent the links to fill out the application, and told to scan and upload all supporting documents. It took about 40 hours to get all the various receipts, do a write-up for each portion of the claim (lost airfare, car rental, hotel, lost tour money, etc.) and the medical papers. Each section of the claim was loaded separately in Pdf format, so they could look at it and ask questions. There were 98 pages of backup. All medical records and receipts were in Italian. We did not have to do any translating. We received two reasonable questions about the airfare and they accepted the answers. They advertise 15 business days as the time to expect a final response after all questions are answered. On the 13th day TL notified us they would pay 100% of the medical, lost tour monies and airfare, differential to fly home business class, and up to the limits of the policy for trip interruption. We received checks totally in the mid five-digits. We ended being out a couple thousand dollars. TinLeg met completely all elements of the policy in a timely manner. This is the second time I've submitted a claim to them (cancelled tour due to death in the family), and both times they have reimbursed me in accordance with the terms of the policies.
