We were charged nearly USD 85 for just 7kg of excess baggage on tickets costing around USD 77 for two passengers in total. 7k baggage fee was literally higher than the price of 2 people's flight itself. One week before departure, I tried to purchase additional baggage through Batik Air’s official website. The system repeatedly failed with a “reservation not found” error, making it impossible to complete the purchase in advance. At the airport, instead of acknowledging this system failure, staff dismissed the issue and blamed us for “leaving it to the last minute,” while also stating that prices increase. This felt like shifting responsibility onto the passenger for an issue caused by the airline’s own platform. This experience reflects a combination of unreliable systems, lack of accountability, and extremely disproportionate pricing practices. Passengers should be aware that small booking issues may result in charges that exceed the actual ticket price. Based on this experience, I strongly recommend travelers double-check baggage policies carefully and be prepared for significant unexpected costs at the airport, actually pay more and dont pick this company.
