Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many travelers frequently encountered frustrating flight delays, poor seating conditions, and a complete lack of communication from ground staff during their journeys. Consumers also reported dealing with unhelpful customer support teams, unexpected heavy fees for checked baggage, and sudden schedule changes that ruined their travel plans.
Some reviewers were happy with the friendly cabin crew, tasty meals, and overall smooth, on-time flights that successfully met their expectations. A few other people also mentioned that the check-in process went quite smoothly and baggage collection at the airport was very quick.

My review at 1 star overstates the quality of my experience. I booked a flight on Batik Air through Booking.com. Batik Air did various reschedules which meant I was going to arrive too late at my destination. It gave me the option to cancel and obtain a refund. I elected to take that option. I’m still waiting for the refund. Batik Air refuses to respond and sends my issue to Booking.com. Booking.com says it’s waiting for the refund from Batik Air so it can refund me. Booking.com is now not replying to emails. Even after cancellation Batik Air kept on sending me updates to the cancelled flights each time it rescheduled (there were many - which also had the effect of vindicating my decision). My take away - avoid Batik Air and its parent company at all costs; avoid airline bookings with booking.com.
I am writing to make a formal complaint about my journey from Kuala Lumpur to Perth via Bali on 21–22 October 2026. The service I received during the disruption was extremely poor, and one of my checked bags is still missing.
My first flight, OD193 from Kuala Lumpur to Denpasar on 21 October, was scheduled to depart at 2:00 pm but was delayed until 3:00 pm. We arrived in Bali at about 4:00 pm and then remained on the aircraft for around an hour.
My connecting flight from Denpasar to Perth was due to depart at 7:00 pm. We were told there was a technical issue and were taken off the aircraft to the international departure terminal. Staff initially advised us that the issue would be fixed and the flight would be ready by 8:50 pm. At about 9:00 pm, we were told there was another technical problem and the aircraft could not fly.
We were told accommodation would be arranged, but there was no clear explanation or proper ground support. We had to follow a staff member through the airport without being given clear information. We reached the ibis Styles Bali at about 11:40 pm. The accommodation and meal provided were disappointing, and we were told to be ready by 10:30 am the next morning.
On 22 October, after breakfast, we took a bus to the airport and arrived at about 11:00 am. There was no Batik Air staff member available to welcome or guide us. Other passengers had to help us find the check-in area. We were told to queue, only to have the 18 passengers who had travelled from Kuala Lumpur to Bali pulled aside and told to wait for confirmation. This caused further delay and confusion. No meals were provided while we waited. We eventually boarded at about 2:00 pm, and the aircraft took off at about 4:00 pm.
After arriving in Perth, I discovered that one of my three checked bags had not arrived. I have since travelled back to Kununurra and am still trying to trace it.
The delays and technical problems may have been outside your control, but the lack of clear communication, guidance and basic passenger care was not acceptable. Please:
Provide a written explanation of what happened and why passengers received so little assistance.
Confirm the current location and status of my missing bag, and arrange its delivery to me in Kununurra.
Explain how Batik Air will address the disruption and the inadequate care provided, including any reimbursement or other remedy available.
Advise what information or receipts you need from me to assess any reasonable out-of-pocket costs.
Please acknowledge this complaint and provide a case reference. I would also appreciate a substantive response within a reasonable timeframe.
Avoid at all costs. The staff are the worst people in the airline industry. I was trying to use the bathroom during beverage service to change my child's Diaper and the staff member wouldn't let me though. Absolutely disgraceful
Too much of reschedule. But from my work place where the nearest airport is bintulu airport and i needed to get there at least a day before as i have 3 hours journey to get to bintulu. And this airline get the best timing for me and others alike. Never deliver ontime. Kept reschedule - delayed/earlier because they have another early flight. to combine it was so insane.
Do not ever book with Batik Air if you value your time, money, and travel plans. We arrived at Perth Airport expecting a routine flight, only to be met with complete chaos. There were well over 200 passengers waiting at the gate to board, only for us to discover that the plane wasn't even in Perth. The utter lack of organization and communication from the staff was appalling, leaving everyone stranded in total confusion for hours.
When they finally announced that the flight was cancelled, the situation went from bad to worse. Batik Air offered zero meaningful assistance or compensation to the crowd of stranded passengers. There were no food vouchers, no hotel accommodations, and no immediate support provided for the massive inconvenience they caused. The only thing they offered was an Uber ride, which is insulting after keeping over 200 people stuck at the airport.
This last-minute cancellation completely ruined our travel plans and cost us a significant amount of money. Because of their negligence, we lost money on pre-booked hotels, missed planned activities, and were left to deal with the financial burden and stress of finding alternative arrangements on short notice. Batik Air showed absolutely no care for how their service failure impacted people's lives and finances.
Customer service was virtually non-existent throughout the entire ordeal. Staff offered no real solutions, showed no empathy, and completely avoided taking accountability for the disaster. Leaving hundreds of paying customers stranded with no proper compensation or guidance is completely unacceptable for any airline operating today.
Save yourself the headache, stress, and wasted money by staying far away from this airline. Batik Air is easily the worst airline experience I have ever had, and I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid flying with them at all costs.
Please do not book with this airline. Our flight was cancelled due to a fault. These things happen. However the way it was handled was disgusting. No help, communication or announcement. Our flight was due to take off at 6pm and we didn’t get our bags back until almost midnight so nearly 9 hours in the airport by now. They then proceeded to take us to a disgusting hotel. The rooms smelt, no lock on the balcony door. I moved rooms once and still ended up with a disgusting room and by this point too late to change hotels. There are what looks like bogies smeared across the wall, caterpillars, hairs in the bed and a general feeling of dirtiness. There are also signs up in the room with graphics of bound hands saying ‘no human trafficking’ it makes me sick to think what has gone on in the hotel if they need to have signs saying this. Avoid Batik air at all costs.
Economy flight from Sg to KL
Flight OD-802
Flight was delayed taking off for about 25 mins on the tarmac , plane switch off the APC that powers the Air con . , I presume to save fuel . Left sweating in economy and no courtesy announcement made by pilot to inform of the delay and the heat .
Plane took off without hiccups after which .

Arrive 2 hr 05 mins before check in
Check in counter was over crowded
I foresee that I’m unable to check in on time with the long queue , proceed to pay to upgrade to business for additional rm2000 for 2 pax
Check in without fuss after which and got to my assign seat . Seated on 3C and Try stowing my hand carry on the overhead compartment , filled with blankets , can only stow mine and still left with partner hand carry to stow mine hand carry , went to the other side of row 3 overhead compartment , open up and to my surprise , filled again with the airplane stuff . In my mind , why do batik air even have business class compartment .

I would like to share my experience with Batik Air. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
I booked a flight with Batik Air from Singapore to Semarang, with a connecting flight in Jakarta. The flight was scheduled to depart at 2:45 PM. We were already asked to board the plane, but we ended up waiting inside for two hours because of a supposed technical issue.
After that, we were asked to disembark and return to the waiting area at Changi Airport. We were told to wait for another hour, but even after another two hours, there was still no clear information or confirmation about when the flight would depart.
Since there was no certainty from Batik Air, I decided to change my flight to a Citilink flight at 9:00 PM. I was traveling with a young child, and I had already missed my connecting flight from Jakarta to Semarang, which was supposed to depart at 6:00 PM.
We then tried to retrieve our checked baggage. Batik Air staff told us that they had already taken care of it and that we just needed to collect it. They even took my baggage tag. However, when we went to the Lost and Found counter to retrieve our luggage, we were asked to wait again. Another hour passed, and our baggage still had not arrived.
We ended up running to another terminal to catch our Citilink flight, only to find that the check-in counter had already closed because we had been waiting for our baggage, which never arrived anyway.
In the end, we had to take a Garuda Indonesia flight at 9:40 PM, and I have to say that the Garuda staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Even more frustratingly, **Garuda was the airline that helped handle our baggage left behind at Changi Airport, not Batik Air!**
Batik Air should have been the airline taking the most responsibility for this entire situation, considering that the disruption started with their flight.
Based on my personal experience, I strongly advise anyone considering booking a flight with Batik Air to THINK TWICE. I will personally NEVER fly with Batik Air again. The way this situation was handled was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and showed a serious lack of responsibility.
**Batik Air is officially on my BLACKLIST.**
2026 oct 18 @0740 indian time:
Worst flight experience ever and haven't even boarded the plane yet.
Midnight flight OD232 was rescheduled to 10am.
Notification was sent out via mail at 9pm when most had already reached the airport.
Had to wait out in the heat while they sorted out accommodation. They were pressuring lone travelers to share rooms. In the end those who didn't share we're booked in a 2 star motel with no food Communication was poor. Reached the motel at midnight.
They arranged pick up at 6.30am for a 10 min transfer for a 10am flight. So sleep was compromised.
Asked them to add food on the flight but they said they would serve breakfast at the gate. The breakfast served was inedible. Awaiting more adventures after boarding.
Update at 1920 malaysian time same day:
Excited to report the new connecting flight od805 to Singapore was delayed from 1930 to 1945 and just now to 2000. The adventure continues. Getting home seems to be a goal that's slip sliding away by 12 hours and no less ...
At least they're consistent with a 2 star experience throughout. Woohoo
One schedule change by Batik Air has cost me days of frustration.
The airline moved my return flight, forcing me to rearrange accommodation and deal with a chain reaction of booking issues. What should have been a simple amendment turned into hours of work because the systems involved offered little clarity and no practical support.
The travel industry seems determined to replace customer service with automation. That's fine when everything goes according to plan. The moment something goes wrong, customers are left trying to untangle problems themselves.
I don't expect perfection, but I do expect accountability and accessible support when an airline changes a booking.
Based on this experience, I would not choose Batik Air again.
Steep airport baggage charges after prepaid purchases close
Batik Air’s baggage policy leaves a very sour taste. Advance baggage purchases close 12 hours before check-in, and after that you’re left facing airport charges of around AUD $18–20 PER KILO. Just 10 kg extra could cost $180–200.
Closing access to prepaid baggage and then charging such steep airport rates is incredibly poor customer service. This deadline and the financial consequences should be made impossible to miss when booking.
A cheap-looking fare quickly loses its appeal when you’re faced with charges like these. Deeply frustrating, terrible value, and a strong reason to think twice before booking with Batik Air again.
I had booked my flight, before I read any reviews. I am so glad I did. This airline goes above and beyond, from checkin to the business lounge and the staff on board.
The flight checkin had no queues, security took two minutes and the lounge was two minutes from from security. The flight left two minutes early. Baggage collect was very quick. It appears to me that some people have been unlucky. This airline is definitely recommended by me.
The seat is ok given that the price is lower than other airline. But the experience is extremely bad where my departure flight was rescheduled twice and return flight get cancelled. Not gonna book batik air flight again.
I would strongly think twice before booking with Batik Air again.
Our flight from Sydney to Bali was cancelled, causing major disruption to our holiday plans. We lost valuable holiday time that we had planned and paid for, and instead of looking forward to our trip, we were left stressed, frustrated and trying to figure out how to fix a situation that was not our fault.
What made this experience even worse was the lack of satisfactory assistance when we contacted the airline. We tried to get help and find a reasonable solution, but we were left disappointed by the response and the lack of support we received.
A flight cancellation is already stressful enough, but the way an airline handles the situation makes all the difference. As paying customers, we expected clear communication, genuine assistance and a practical solution. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below those expectations.
A holiday is precious. People spend their hard-earned money, take time off work and carefully plan their trips. Losing valuable holiday time because of a cancelled flight is not a small inconvenience, especially when the airline fails to provide the support passengers need.
Based on our personal experience, I would not feel confident recommending Batik Air to friends or family. I hope the airline takes customer complaints more seriously and improves the way it handles cancellations and supports affected passengers.
Think carefully before booking. A cheap ticket is not worth the stress and disappointment if things go wrong and you are left struggling to get help.
Batik Air said there was no luggage allowance despite our booking confirmation clearly showing 50kg checked bag allowance
Our booking included a 50kg checked baggage allowance (5 x 10kg) for both the outgoing and return flights. While the outgoing flight went smoothly, Batik Air staff stated during check-in for our return flight that no baggage allowance was registered in their system.
Although I presented my booking confirmation clearly displaying the 50kg allowance, Batik staff claimed that Booking.com (travel agent) had booked a "Super Saver" ticket without baggage. This contradicts my booking confirmation and Booking.com support, who verified that the allowance was correctly applied and suggested the issue stemmed from a system error following Batik airline scheduling a flight change to a slightly earlier time and not moving over my luggage allowance.
Airport staff were polite and understanding but did not resolve the issue on-site and advised that management were in a meeting and unavailable to speak with me. To avoid missing the flight while traveling with my family, which included young children, I was forced to pay 1,000 MYR to upgrade my seat so our baggage could be checked in. This was the most cost-effective option available according to their staff, as the fee for luggage alone was quoted at 2,300 MYR for 46kg.
Staff instructed me to contact Booking.com for a refund. However, Booking.com customer support reiterated that the 50kg allowance was correctly processed on their end and directed me back to Batik Air, leaving me caught between the two parties.
My brother passed away unexpectedly, and I had to urgently return home. I requested a refund from Batik Air and provided the death certificate. Batik Air repeatedly referred me to Opodo because my ticket was issued through them. However, Opodo keeps sending me back to Batik Air. Batik Air has now confirmed in writing that Opodo must submit the refund request themselves. I have provided this confirmation to Opodo, but they still refuse to take action. I am stuck in an endless Batik Air → Opodo → Batik Air loop, with no solution. Given the circumstances, dealing with this level of bureaucracy and having to repeatedly explain my brother's death has been extremely disappointing and stressful. I expected more understanding and support from Batik Air during such a difficult time.
Worst business class in the sky traveled perth to Jakarta return perth airport said cannot go in business class lounge as they were to busy! Then when we boared we then told no drink service any more don't know what it is with these guys and lounges but coming back at check in they told us lounge available no problems good news as we had a 4 hour wait got our boarding passes and proceeded through security only to find out the lounge is prior to to security and you cannot get back again going home dry plane this is not business class or full service
