TruGreen

I'd give them a 0 Stars if I could

Let me start by saying that my property is five acres. It is not a small postage-stamp lot in a subdivision. That being said, I am not expecting my lawn to look like a fairway at the U.S. Open. However, I do expect the weed control and fertilizer applications that I am paying for to be applied correctly and produce the results that were promised. I continued using TruGreen based on the recommendation of the previous homeowner. After moving in last summer, I signed up for a one-year program that included four applications. The first application was completed in July, shortly after I moved in. Approximately two weeks later, I walked the property and found that the treatment had done nothing to control the crabgrass and other weeds that I had specifically been told would be addressed. When I called to complain, I was told that I was outside the applicable treatment window and that no credit would be issued. After escalating the issue, a supervisor came to my property, reviewed the lawn, and agreed that the treatment should have addressed the problems. He arranged for another technician to retreat the yard. Two weeks after that second treatment, the crabgrass finally began to die off. The fall treatment, which I believe was primarily fertilizer, was equally disappointing. While I understand we had a difficult summer, I still expected the application to improve the appearance of the lawn and at least green it up before winter. That never happened. I expressed my dissatisfaction to TruGreen and made it very clear that if the issues continued into the following season, I would be canceling my service. When spring arrived, my first application was nearly four weeks late. After the treatment was finally completed, I again found widespread crabgrass throughout the property. I called and complained once more, but my concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears. The most recent treatment was completed approximately two weeks ago. Initially, everything appeared fine. However, over the last week, I noticed dark green stripes throughout my yard. It is obvious that the fertilizer application equipment was not operating properly. Whether the product was liquid or granular, the application was uneven and resulted in highly visible striping where fertilizer was applied in some areas and missed in others. When I called to report the issue, the customer service representative actually questioned whether I was simply seeing mowing stripes. I have been mowing lawns for over 50 years, and I know the difference between mowing patterns and fertilizer striping. The suggestion was both frustrating and insulting. I was told that a supervisor from the local office would contact me within 48 hours. Four days passed and no one called. I contacted TruGreen again and spoke with a very pleasant representative who escalated my complaint and assured me that someone would contact me that morning. Several hours later, I still had not received a call. At this point, the poor application results are only part of the problem. The lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through has been equally disappointing. I will not be using TruGreen moving forward. For anyone considering their services, I would strongly encourage you to pay close attention to what is being applied to your lawn and watch the technician during the application process to ensure the work is being performed correctly. My experience has been one of repeated service failures, poor communication, and results that simply did not justify the cost.
