GMKtec EU

One-year policy used to deny the 2-year EU legal guarantee

I bought a GMKtec EVO-X2 (order #GMK2919) on 12 June 2025 for €1,999. Around 12 months after delivery it failed: the unit shuts down before display (pre-POST), no image, no BIOS access. I completed every troubleshooting step support requested (CMOS reset, static discharge, SSD removal) with no change. The same fault had occurred once before, pointing to an inherent defect. GMKtec refused any repair or replacement, stating only that their one-year commercial warranty — counted from the order date — had expired. As an EU consumer I invoked the statutory guarantee of conformity (2 years from delivery, EU Directive 2019/771), which is mandatory and takes precedence over a commercial warranty. I sent a formal notice to both support addresses (service@ and eu-cs@) with a 15-day deadline. It went unanswered. The hardware issue can happen to any brand. What concerns me is the after-sales handling: relying on a one-year policy to sidestep the EU legal guarantee, and then not responding to a formal notice. Buyers in the EU should know their statutory rights before purchasing.
