PadSplit

Make sure you have a phone call with the host!

This was not a good experience! I was looking for a place to live (FL) that was affordable, safe, and reliant. I saw mixed reviews from this app, but decided to try it out. Overall, it was stressful and concerning! The first pad I booked looked beautiful (Rated 5 stars). I get contacted by the property manager. Mind you, I am doing all this through the phone app in a galaxy phone as my laptop finally died on me after 5+years. So, I did not know this (until I called customer service and they made a ticket!) through the app you cannot see who the landlord/property manager is and what their response rate is. You also cannot see who lives in the house. And most of the pictures of the rooms and houses have been AI enhanced. If you look at the backgrounds in the windows its picture perfect neighborhoods. However, if you do a general Google maps the scenery is significantly different. The property manager shares with me through phone call (which I appreciate) that there is an active eviction going on in the house and tensions have built up. So, she recommends two other places of which she describes the people and they seem okay. I also notice the rents are significantly higher soon realizing she gets commision from this. Plus because she "referred" those two places through a link she gets another commission if I move into a Pad. I decided to book at another place remember there is a $100 dollar cancelation fee. At the second place (also rated 5 star reviews) after booking, I scroll all the way down where it shows parking spaces. I notice in the description Cadillac cars, Lincoln Nav.. there is a picture of each person next to their car. I realized I would be sharing a house with at least three other men. I reached out to the property manager for reassurance on my future room mates to ask some questions (cleanliness, respectful, any conflicts etc.) he didn't even care to answer any of my questions. I suggested a facetime or phone call to chat like I did with the first property manager who at least was lovely enough to let me know about the situatuon. This one did not even bother suggesting I should move into another of his properties as women are too "dramatic". Padsplit customer service was useless as well! I just wanted to know the genders of the people I was going to beliving with for the next at least three month's they couldn't even help me with that. It was not until after I found out that you could see pad mates (from unbooked houses) through the website that I realized it did not matter where I booked I would be rooming with some shaddy people. The manager taking hours to respond, barely answered my parking question. Also, I had requested to move in at 8 instead of 6 pm because of logistics and he said no. I could not rebook my flight to an earlier one to get there before 6 so I had to cancel and was charged the $100 dollars. In total I waisted almost $200 ($19 background, $26 first pad cleaning fee $100 Pad cancellation (I cancelled in less than 24 hrs) and who knows what other hidden fees. The entire situation left me scared and frustrated. I had an uncaring property manager and customer service could not even verify the gender of my pad mates. What a disappointment this experience was! The customer service girls are not sympathetic either! I called twice in one day and in one ocassion in the evening I spoke to someone from India! Padsplit is not a company designed for students, entering professionals, or those who are in the transition phase in their career. Make sure you make contact with the landlord! Have a phone call! In each property unfortunately there are usually 3-5 reviews and they can be a year or more old. I am wondering if PadSplit erases the review comments. This is how PadSplit traps you by not letting you have contact with the property manager unless you book. Unjust
