Expedia

Booking process

I am writing this review to warn other travelers. I tried to call the Holiday Inn directly to book a room. I searched for the hotel’s phone number, but the call was routed to Expedia without making it clear that I was no longer speaking with the hotel. Believing I was booking directly with the hotel, I completed the reservation. When I arrived, the hotel staff showed me that the hotel’s actual rate was about $107–109 per night, while I had been charged about $234–238 per night through Expedia. The hotel told me they could not correct the price because the reservation had been made through a third party. In my opinion, this booking process is misleading. Customers trying to reach a hotel directly should not be redirected without a clear warning that they are speaking with a third-party agency. Please be careful. Before giving your credit card information, make sure you are actually speaking with the hotel and not with a booking agency.
