Bait-and-switch on installation — hidden $465 charge sprung on install day

I ordered a chandelier and paid Wayfair $265 upfront for professional installation. On the day of installation, the contractor (Angie) told me the job required scaffolding that wasn't included, and quoted an additional $465 on the spot — nearly double what I'd already paid. When I pushed back, I was told there was nothing that could be done about it. This isn't how installation pricing should work. If specialized equipment like scaffolding is needed for a fixture Wayfair sells and schedules installation for, that should be assessed and disclosed before the appointment — not sprung on the customer with the installer already standing in my home. Being told "there's no option" at that point isn't a real choice, it's leverage. I'm left having paid $730 total for what was quoted as a $265 installation, with no opportunity to shop around, decline, or plan for the added cost. I'd urge Wayfair to fix how installation quotes are scoped so customers aren't cornered into unplanned payments on the day of service. I can't recommend the installation service as currently run, and I'd think twice before bundling installation with a Wayfair purchase again.
