From the dramatic arrival through the mountains into Paro to the warmth and kindness of the Bhutanese people, every moment felt special. During my tour, I explored Paro and Thimphu, visited the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, saw the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery against the cliffs, experienced traditional Bhutanese food and archery, and stopped at the beautiful confluence of the rivers. My guide brought each destination to life by explaining Bhutan’s history, traditions, spirituality and unique approach to preserving its culture and environment. My tour guide was knowledgeable, patient and genuinely passionate about his country. He answered every question, adjusted the itinerary to my interests and made me feel completely welcomed.
