My mother received a call from Monster Vacations this morning, just one week after my father passed away. She politely explained the situation and asked that they stop calling because she no longer wished to receive their solicitations. Instead of responding with empathy or simply respecting her request, the representative told her that she could “still travel.” At a time when our family is grieving such a devastating loss, that response was incredibly insensitive, callous, and completely inappropriate. There is a time and place for sales, and this was neither. Basic compassion and professionalism should come before making another sales pitch. The representative should have immediately expressed condolences, apologized for the timing, and honored her request to stop contacting her. This experience left our family shocked and disgusted. Based on how my grieving mother was treated, I would never recommend doing business with this company. I sincerely hope they provide better training to their staff so that no other family has to experience this kind of heartless interaction during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
