Misleading and inconsistent ratings on Agoda
My experience with Agoda was extremely disappointing and has raised serious concerns about the reliability and transparency of the ratings displayed on the platform. During my trip to Turkey, I had to use Agoda because Booking.com was not working properly in Turkey. One of the properties recommended by Agoda was displayed with an impressive 9.2/10 rating (“Exceptional”), which naturally suggests a very high-quality accommodation. However, when looking at the individual ratings displayed by Agoda itself, the picture was completely different: Cleanliness 6.0, Location 6.5, Comfort 4.5, Staff performance 5.7 and Value for money 5.7. How can a property with a 4.5/10 rating for comfort, 6.0/10 for cleanliness and 5.7/10 for value for money be presented to customers as “Exceptional” with an overall score of 9.2/10? This discrepancy is, at the very least, highly confusing and insufficiently transparent for consumers, particularly when the overall rating is likely to be one of the main factors influencing a booking decision. After this experience, I have considerably less confidence in Agoda's rating system and in the way accommodation options are presented on the platform.
