Agoda

**ROBBED on check-in day

**ROBBED on check-in day. This company is a disgrace.** Picture this: 24 hours of travel across multiple cities. You land in Cusco, Peru at night — exhausted, dragging your luggage — and the hotel you confirmed and paid for doesn't have your booking. Agoda cancelled it THAT DAY. The cancellation email didn't even bother with a reason. It literally said "{arReason}" — they couldn't even fill in their own template. So there we were, two worn-out travelers standing in a foreign city at night with nowhere to sleep. I went in to deal with the hotel staff while my friend stood outside frantically searching her phone for any room that would take us. This was supposed to be our vacation. Instead we were tag-teaming survival. The Hilton Garden Inn at $1,568 wasn't a luxury splurge. It was the ONLY hotel with a room available on zero notice. We paid it because the alternative was the street. Then came the circus. Every new agent offered something worse: $87.53 cash, then $29.17 in AgodaCash, then $145.88 in AgodaCash. Their final answer: they "cannot proceed further than the original booking value." Translation: you eat the $1,276 loss, we keep the profit. The best part? They rejected my replacement receipt because the guest name didn't match mine — then REFUSED, twice in writing, to correct the name when my friend (the actual booker) asked them to. They demand a document they won't issue, then punish you for not having it. That's not policy. That's a trap. A company that leaves you stranded at night in a foreign city, pockets the difference, and weaponizes its own paperwork against you. Book elsewhere. Or book to the hotel website instead!!!!
