Took payment for a SIXT rental that SIXT refused to provide — no refund, no response — FDACS case open
Date of experience: 23 December 2025 SIXT voucher: 1152550 — Confirmation: 9726943369 Amount retained by Rentingcarz / LatinCarz: CAD 1,076.38 I booked a prepaid car rental at SIXT Toronto Pearson through the American Express Platinum Concierge in late 2025 (CAD 1,076.38, AmEx Platinum ending 0654). My Air Canada flight AC427 was delayed by adverse weather and arrived at 23:11 instead of 21:44 (documented by Toronto Pearson/GTAA). The flight number was on file. The SIXT off-airport branch was already closed when I arrived. At 03:32 AM on 24 Dec I asked the AmEx Platinum Concierge (case 20643678) to coordinate with SIXT. At 07:59 AM SIXT replied IN WRITING through AmEx REFUSING to release the vehicle. I had to take an Avis replacement at +CAD 642.31. When I demanded the refund from SIXT (formal letter, 25 May 2026), SIXT replied that 'Your reservation was booked and paid for through the wholesaler LatinCarz, LLC. As a result, any refund requests must be directed to them, since they are the party that processed and currently holds your payment.' I sent a formal demand letter to Rentingcarz / LatinCarz, LLC on 11 June 2026 (Miami address 78 SW 7th St Ste 500). As of 24 June 2026 — 13 days later — Rentingcarz has NOT responded. This pattern matches the unanswered complaints in Rentingcarz Holdings' BBB Miami profile. Rentingcarz / LatinCarz, LLC is a Florida-registered seller of travel (Chapter 559, FL Stat.) bound by FDUTPA (Chapter 501, Part II). I have filed complaints in parallel: - FDACS Florida Seller of Travel program — case 2606-04507 - Consumer Protection Ontario - Competition Bureau of Canada This is a textbook closed-loop refund deflection: SIXT redirects to LatinCarz; LatinCarz ignores the consumer. Both retain a financial benefit from a service that was actively refused. Total out-of-pocket loss: CAD 1,718.69. Avoid Rentingcarz / LatinCarz for any prepaid booking. If the operator refuses to deliver, you are left without recourse. Even formal demand letters are ignored.
