That way, people who don't speak Chinese can easily get paper printouts of their tickets without even having to say one word. Since your ticket is tied to your passport, paper tickets are not strictly necessary, but it is useful and reassuring to have printed proof of one's train, car, and seat number (in a more official format than just an itinerary from a third-party reseller) in the event of any problems. This service is a lifesaver for foreigners or anyone who wants to reserve train tickets in China during busy travel periods and doesn't want to have to hover over their keyboard or phone (along with millions of other users at the same time) ready to pounce on seats the instant they become available 15 days before one's travel date. I was happy to outsource this task to agents far more fluent in Chinese than I am, and more knowledgeable about the ins and outs of mainland China's complex rail network. The photos and descriptions of the various train types on China Highlights' website were also more informative than on other sites. It's no mystery why this company has such positive reviews online.
China Highlights were great in advising and booking our high speed train tickets from Beijing to Shanghai. Fair priced and arrived as promised with very clear instructions for use. The tickets were ‘loaded’ to our passports and we found using them very easy at Beijing nan station. I would highly recommend.

My family and I had great experiences to use this service and website to book train tickets, fast and efficient for foreign tourists who do not have local payment method and access to local train booking system. thank you
From the moment I made the train enquiry to receipt of my ticket, the service was excellent. Fabio led me through the process and made sure the tickets reached my hotel in time. This is not a normal route so very little accurate information is available. As I had a few days to fill in between trips I chose train travel rather than air. At first I was advised that there were no seats -- there were only two in our whole carriage.
What I did fail to realise was that there was a delay of 12 hours in Erenhot -- had I known I would have booked a day room in the adjacent hotel. Another 4 hours in Zamin Udd - eventually we were advised that we could actually get off the train -- very useful as you cannot use the toilet when the train is stopped.
None of this is China Highlights problem - their service was excellent, especial thanks to Fabio for his care and attention
I booked quite a few high speed train tickets from the agency in the summer of 2025, including Chaling to Zhang Jia Jie, Chen du to Xi An, Hongkong to Guang Zhou , etc. The service is reliable and I got all the tickets that I need.
We took the night train from Shanghai to Beijing (hard sleeper) and overall, the ride was very pleasant and everything went smoothly. The train conditions exceeded our expectations — everything felt clean, relatively quiet, and more comfortable than we anticipated given the ticket type.
That said, a few things could be improved. It would have been great to choose our specific bed (upper, middle, or lower) in advance, and we also wish there were more photos or clear info about the train layout and ride types available before booking. The booking process itself felt a bit uncertain — we paid without being 100% sure seats were secured, and only later had to pay extra to confirm them.
Still, the journey was enjoyable and we’d definitely consider doing it again!
