I have been calling +6038321 5400 from outside Malaysia. Today, after voice verification, I was informed by the IRS that I am not an Amanah customer and was advised to call 1313. The line then cut off. Since I can't dial 1313, I tried using AVA, but it kept circulating the same Q&A without any resolution. There is no way to speak to a human.
I then logged into my PC to chat with a representative. I explained that the app on my new phone indicated my device limit was reached and I needed help to remove the app from older devices. The representative told me that this could only be done via a phone call. I explained my difficulty in calling 1313 and asked if someone could call me to resolve this issue. She agreed but after a long wait, informed me that she couldn't make the call but would raise a request to remove my older device. She asked me to contact them again in 3 working days to check the approval...when i asked for ticket number, she told me there is no ticket reference...then she suddenly disappeared...I am beyond angry LOL
I guess it's time to move on from HSBC...I have terminated all my credit card because of the bad support system, I have to stop bank account now.
Arif (agent that picked up my call on 2/3/25, 915pm) was super helpful, patient, trying his best to help me troubleshoot . He called me back after my line break off and assisted me from the start until end (waited me to download apps, retrieve my Personal info).
Wow! I thought it was just me - but with 90% of the reviews here being one star, apparently EVERYBODY gets bad customer service from this Bank. Even other high net-worth (so-called) Premier customers such as me.
It starts with their app - which is poor & written by third-rate (fourth-rate?) programmers who have zero concept of what users need in the real world. And which will block your access without notice - on a whim because its over-the-top security protocol suddenly thinks your device has become some sort of risk. (Whilst none of my world class Banks think this?)
And continues with (so-called) Premier managers who ignore your emails.
Sadly there's little choice of banks in Malaysia
Not just incompetent even customer service arguing with customers that raised by us when they can't answer very annoying when terms and conditions set by them but can't follow call the customer service to have complaints unit numbers and cannot give ridiculous despicable
I am an HSBC premium customer of around 40 years. I was defrauded of RM7,000 on my credit card issued by HSBC. The fraudsters had hacked HSBC and fraudulently issued a OTP. I appealed twice yet HSBC denied any responsibility or consideration of a refund siting the fraudulent OTP. They also blamed Visa (and me) despite being the issuing bank. They clearly are not genuinely customer orientated and allow computerised systems to dictate action.
So two issues: 1. HSBC is not secure, and the OTP can be hacked. 2. They will not protect you from fraudsters.
BEWARE and BE WARNED.
Forget this bank if you planned to leave Malaysia and live abroad. They do not send card outside the country due to their internal policy and to be honest, the communication with the customer is really, really terrible. Ive never been warned of a potential problem so they locked my card suddenly, later ive lost access to online app without prior warning. Employees are nice but management hawfull and disgusting
HSBC premier Malaysia has the worst customer service. UK and Australia ones are good. Malaysia customer service and premier managers are not helpful at all and professional when you’re in overseas. I’m their customer for 20 years but their service is annoying, can you explain imagine it’s Premier?
the Indian lady/mala at bay avenue is very patience and professional but HSBC app sucked ..... yesterday went to see mala and she helped reset back, tis morning d apps was "hanged" again.....HSBC sucked
Worst bank ever. I have wasted so much money trying to call them to activate pin no for new credit card but they left me listening to their stupid answering machine. If there is no human working on that day, just don’t pickup the call!!!!!! For God sake. I will just terminate the card then and banned HSBC forever in my life.
Your employee was teasing a passing girl in the Genting Highlands exhibition hall. She was Chinese, dark-skinned and thin without glasses. When asked what was going on, she looked unwilling to start a fight. She left without taking it seriously and kept following him. Pointing and scolding people on the road as they pass by, is this the standard of your bank? The standard is too poor
Dear Cassey Sum, Alex Lim, Muhammad Yusof, Jerrick Foo and HSBC WPB review team.
For the 3rd time, I would like HSBC to STOP harassing me with the attached letter requesting me evidence of US citizenship and US WBEN form which I do not have, and to send me an APOLOGY for relentless customer harassment - I shall post these correspondence publicly on HSBC Malaysia Google Review and other public places.
I hope I will not receive a 4th letter in the post or my account gets blocked because of your incompetency and inaction (I am referring to Cassey, Alex, Muhammad, Jerrick and HSBC WPB review team), in which case I shall stop being civil.
As explained on 29 February to my customer relationship manager Ms Cassey and in writing to all of you....I neither have or want a US citizenship and passport.
Happy to meet Ms Cassey and sign any additional documentation in the second week of June.
I look forward to having a written response to my 3rd email to you.
Best regards,
We are very impressed with the assistance of Mageswari Spursmaniam at the HSBC Downing Street branch, Penang. Our account was dormant over 3 years. She was able to solve our problem very quickly and in no time we got our account reactivated with new debit cards, etc. she was extremely efficient and courteous with attention to details. We cannot praise her enough. Thank you Magie.
As a client for well over a decade, I would say they have two key issues:
(1) Slow Service
On average be prepared to spend 30 minutes to 1.5 hours every time you visit. The staff are really friendly and helpful but there is so much red tape, so many unnecessary forms and formalities that simple things take 30-40 mins to resolve, anything more complex and you're looking at over an hour!
(2) The bank is very poorly digitised, their business and personal apps are useless aside from checking balance and conducting simple transfers to pre-set parties you cannot do much else. They really need to look at what Revolut is doing.
Had to make an appoinment does not guarantee service
Had to make an appointment which is not an issue. But at the appointment time, no one attends to you. Imagine the security guard is the one who direct me where to seat. Waited aimlessly for 30 minutes and still no one attend to us. I gave up. HSBC Penang Tanjung tokong Branch
This is a correct level of service?
Had a nightmare experience with HSBC Telesales Krishnavenny Muniandy. Applied Personal Financing during MCO through HSBC apps in 2020 because Covid 19 pandemic and no bank was open for walk-in. I have applied RM50,000 loan for 3 years tenure from Day 1 of the application process. This lady did not reject my application but insisted that I took 5 years. I have asked her many times to pay for the 3 years and she kept mentioning that I will not be charged with any penalty/future interest as she promised that I have to take 5 years tenure due to cash back promotion at that point of time. From my 1st to 36th instalments, I have paid based on 3 years tenure (RM1701.40 for 3 years instead of RM1145.84 for 5 years). The nightmare started when I wanted to settle the loan after the 36th instalments. The telesales, customer service and feedback was very slow, even can take up to 46 days to respond without fully settling the issues. Now, HSBC is asking for an additional RM4503.02 being future interest for the next 2 years. Walked in into HSBC branches did not solved the issues as they claimed they have no power to help you. The only solution is to write to complaints dept but respond is very slow. The telesales claimed that all the conversations were recorded and in their Customer Service reply to my email, HSBC seems to find the whole recording but seems to put the blame on the telesales. I am not in the position to be involved in HSBC internal staffs misconduct, but Krishnavenny misconduct, misrepresentatio, misleading and not truthful during the whole application process is totally unacceptable and I am being penalised by HSBC staff's misconduct even by paying diligently and consistently from Day 1. This case is still unresolved and what is disgusting is the way the relevant staffs responded to me like it is none of their problem : "You already got scammed by our staff, but you signed already, we will settle with her internally but you have to pay us future interest". I was totally didn't believe that I have to go through this with HSBC.
Wish to thank sincerely Madam Pui See Assistant manager and Madam Anu Radha HSBC Ipoh at Jalan Sultan yussof who were most efficient ,prompt and above all most compassionate. Truly appreciate their kindness and excellent service. May we have many more like them. God bless them. Thank you HSBC.
