Not happy with service availability for trip to SXM

We purchased two eSims for trip to Sint Maarten since they worked well in Greece, Crete and Italy. On SXM the data wasn't available when needed for driving directions and being able to send text was spotty at best. I ended up having to purchase Verizon Int'l on top of the eSim. So...not happy with the service availability this time!

Coverage not what it used to be

Two years ago, I had good experiences with Airalo, but that's changed on my latest trip to SE Asia. Both in Thailand and Cambodia, service was very spotty. Working through customer support, I was able to receive a refund and purchase a local physical SIM card in Thailand, but that defeats the purpose and convenience of an eSIM. Probably will just go regular SIM at airport on arrival in the future.

My connection struggled

My connection struggled, kept dropping and barely worked consistently. It was incredibly frustrating. I had to use WiFi to do most of the things I wanted.

Not happy at all!

Cost me £28 for 20GB of data to cover North America for 14 days. It was OK while in Vancouver, but once we embarked on our cruise ship, it was practically unusable. I do realise that coverage in Alaska is sketchy at the best of times, but onshore in major towns, it was still rubbish. We arrived in one town, and our bus driver told us there was an AT & T mast, so we would have no trouble connecting to the internet. I literally stood next to the mast, but still could get nothing. I contacted Airalo, when I could get a signal, and they asked me to check numerous settings on my phone, all of which were correct. They then asked me to turn on airplane mode for a full five minutes, then after turning it back off, I could not contact Airalo at all. That's £28 I'll never see again. Not happy!
