Poor Communication and Lack of Transparency
I enrolled in Alleviate’s debt settlement program with high expectations, but my experience was disappointing.
I paid over $11,000 into the program. While some settlements were made, I later learned that one settlement had failed and would need to be negotiated again. I also had difficulty obtaining clear explanations about how my funds were being managed and how the program fees were calculated.
When I requested a complete accounting of my account, it took multiple requests and formal complaints before I received the information. During this process, I received inconsistent answers from different representatives regarding the status of my account and future payments.
I believe customers deserve clear communication, complete transparency, and timely access to information about their own money. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I hope the company improves its communication and account transparency so future customers do not experience the same frustration I did.

Your reply does not address the main issues I raised.
First, I repeatedly instructed your company not to contact me by phone. I requested communication by email only, yet you continue to state that you “attempted to contact” me without respecting my preferred communication method.
Second, you claim that three accounts were successfully settled. That does not answer my complaint. My concern is the significant delays before negotiations even began, the damage caused to my credit during that time, and the fact that I had to resolve one of my remaining accounts myself because your company failed to do so.
Third, regarding the returned deposits, I dispute your characterization. I have requested complete documentation showing exactly how the alleged shortage occurred, including a full accounting of every deposit, every withdrawal, every settlement payment, every fee charged, and the balance after each transaction. Simply stating that there were insufficient funds is not sufficient evidence.
Fourth, you state that your fees were properly earned. I request a detailed breakdown of every fee charged, the date it was charged, the specific settlement it relates to, and the contractual provision authorizing each fee.
Finally, your response still fails to explain where my money went. I requested a complete accounting of all funds deposited into my dedicated account, including every payment made to creditors, every fee collected, and the remaining balance. Until that information is provided, my concerns remain unresolved.
I also reject the suggestion that the issue is simply that the program “could have continued.” The issue is whether your company fulfilled its obligations before the account became void. Your response does not address that question.

We appreciate your feedback and regret any frustration you may have experienced.
During your enrollment in the program, our team successfully negotiated and settled three of your accounts with your approval. We can also confirm that your program transactions, including settlement payments and program fees, were accessible through your client portal. Our service fees are outlined in the agreement and are assessed only after you approve a negotiated settlement and the first payment toward that settlement has been made. Since these conditions were met, the corresponding service fees became applicable.
You had two scheduled deposits returned due to insufficient funds, which created a shortfall in your third-party dedicated savings account. We made numerous attempts to contact you to try to get your program back into good standing but were unable to establish contact. Because there were insufficient funds available to support the settlement payment by its due date, and that creditor does not accept late payments, the settlement became void.
We are confident we could have continued working toward a resolution and renegotiated the account had the program remained active. We understand you have since been provided with the third-party custodial account administrator's transaction summary, and we look forward to addressing any remaining concerns through your preferred method of communication.
