My experience with Au Pair USA by InterExchange has truly been life-changing. It gave me the opportunity to explore a new culture, grow as a person, and create memories that I will carry with me forever. I was based in Houston, and that part of my journey became especially meaningful because of the incredible support I received there. Like many au pairs, my experience didn’t start perfectly—I went through a challenging placement that was emotionally difficult at times. However, what truly made the difference was my Local Coordinator, Muna. Muna was absolutely amazing. From the moment I needed help, she was there—supportive, understanding, and genuinely caring. She took the time to listen to me, guided me through a tough situation, and made sure I felt safe and supported every step of the way. Being far from home can feel overwhelming, especially when things don’t go as planned, but Muna created a sense of stability and trust that meant everything to me during that time. Thanks to her support, I was able to move forward, rematch, and find a much better placement where I could truly enjoy the au pair experience. From there, everything changed for the better. I built a wonderful relationship with my host family, created strong bonds with the children, and fully embraced life in Houston. I was able to explore the city, meet new people, and grow in confidence and independence. Houston will always hold a special place in my heart—not just because of the experiences I had, but because of the support system I found there through Muna. She goes above and beyond for her au pairs, and it’s clear that she truly cares about both the au pairs and the host families she works with. I would highly recommend Au Pair USA by InterExchange, especially to families in the Houston area. Having a Local Coordinator like Muna makes all the difference—she is dedicated, compassionate, and incredibly reliable. Any family working with her can feel confident that they will be supported every step of the way. This program pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible and helped me grow into a stronger, more independent person. I am so grateful for this journey and for people like Muna who make it such a positive and meaningful experience.

They helped make a big decision such an smooth and easy experience. Would absolutely recommend them to others. Had a nice selection of au pairs to look at. They communicated everything to expect. Love my au pair that arrived and everything worked out perfectly

Extremely disappointed

I did my au pair exchange program with InterExchange, where I stayed in the United States for over a year with a host family. Although my host family was very good, my agency and especially my LCC were extremely disappointing. I was placed in the Durham, NC region, and the LCC responsible for the Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, and Apex area was completely ineffective throughout my entire process. She was not supportive at all. During monthly meetings, she barely spoke to me. She never provided assistance when I needed help and only contacted me once a month because it was mandatory and required for agency reporting purposes. On the few occasions when I had issues with my host family and reached out for support, she did absolutely nothing to help. On the contrary, she consistently favored the host family and dismissed or invalidated my concerns and difficulties. When I decided to return home, she attempted to charge me a fee, claiming it was agency policy — as if I still had to pay after everything. Thankfully, my host family was very reasonable. Before I even said anything, they told me I did not need to pay any fee and even gave me additional financial support to help with my return. After that, the LCC insisted that she needed a written message from my host mom stating that I did not have to pay the fee, even though I had already sent her a screenshot of our conversation clearly showing that my host mom had confirmed I would not be charged. My experience with this LCC was extremely discouraging and disappointing. I often felt unheard, unsupported, and dismissed. I later found out that another au pair under the supervision of this same LCC had a very similar experience, feeling excluded during meetings, unsupported, and ignored when raising concerns. The agency itself has the potential to grow and be more recognized, but they must understand that their reputation depends heavily on the quality and professionalism of their LCCs. As long as they continue to keep representatives who fail to properly support the au pairs under their supervision, their credibility will suffer. I WOULD NOT recommend this agency based on my experience.

Urgency for SSC and bank account set up

Overall my au pair has been great so far. However, I do feel more urgency should be put on getting a social security card, bank account, etc when the au pair arrives. This is my au pairs first experience as well as ours. My local coordinator indicated I should wait for the meeting in the first week to discuss. My au pair has now been here almost 2 weeks and we finally have found time to go to the admin building. I have a 2 month old infant but if I had to return to work she would have to uber/drive and navigate this on her own. I think more guidance or urgency would be beneficial to them and us for a smooth introduction.
