About this business

CircuitMess makes DIY electronics kits that you build yourself, starting from a bare circuit board. We design and manufacture our kits in-house: the PCBs, the enclosures, the firmware, and the step-by-step guides that come in every box. The range now covers a family of buildable devices, including the MAKERphone, Chatter messaging devices, the Wheelson self-driving car, ByteBoi, Clockstar, Circuit Pet, our rover kits and the Artemis watch. Some need a soldering iron and some are entirely solder-free, so there is a sensible place to start whether you are eleven or fifty. The part we care most about is what happens after the build. Every kit is meant to be understood, not just assembled, so each one ships with illustrated assembly instructions and coding lessons that let you reprogram the device once it powers up. Most people who start out following the steps end up rewriting the code, and that is the whole point. Our kits get built at kitchen tables by parents and kids working together, and they are used in classrooms and STEM programmes internationally. If a kit arrives faulty, if a part is missing, or if you get stuck halfway through a build, email [email protected] or call +1 (231) 907-6433 and we will help you sort it out.

What people say

Customer service is a disaster.

I ordered a Rover from Circuitmess in November as a Christmas gift. The order status didn’t change for weeks. I called their contact number, (218) 403-4192, multiple times - no answer. I left voicemails requesting a callback but never received a response. I also submitted inquiries through the Circuitmess customer support webpage and received no feedback. After emailing to Circuitmess multiple times, I finally received a response saying the order would ship on December 19. However, nothing happened until December 22. When I emailed to cancel the order due to the delay, they immediately replied that the Rover had just been shipped. The package was eventually delivered on December 27 - well after Christmas. Because of the significant delay, I emailed Circuitmess to request a return and full refund. After three follow-up emails, I still have not received a return shipping address or clear instructions. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Ironically, Circuitmess continues to send promotional emails while failing to provide basic customer support. I strongly recommend staying away from Circuitmess. UPDATE (1/8/2026): I received a response from CircuitMess and was issued a full refund. CircuitMess offered a no-return resolution, which I appreciate. I’m glad the issue is resolved; however, I strongly encourage CircuitMess to improve its customer support, as poor communication leds to lost customers.

Hello, We’re truly and sincerely sorry for this experience. We fell short here, and we fully acknowledge that. A Christmas gift arriving late, combined with uncertainty around communication, is understandably frustrating, and we completely understand why this left such a negative impression. This was never our intention. There was communication on our side, but regardless of that, it’s our responsibility to ensure everything is handled clearly, promptly, and without confusion. We recognize that we did not meet that standard during a very busy holiday period, and we’re genuinely sorry for the stress this caused. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We take it seriously and are actively reviewing our internal processes to prevent situations like this in the future. We will also be reaching out to you again directly to ensure everything is fully and properly resolved. Thank you for your patience, and again, our sincere apologies. Best regards, CircuitMess
