Overall good experience. Two concerns: Delivery time longer than promised. Initially thought I was dealing directly with issuing gov. agency. Your company name needs to indicate clearly you’re not a direct issuer of the document.

What HelloGov does not tell you is that your passport renewal ends up costing $500 vs $130 when going directly through the Department of State. One fee for expediting and then another for the actual passport. A total rip off!

Loved the frequent check-ins via text, email, and phone to make sure I submit everything correctly. My passport was processed well within the time expected and I had visibility into the status each step of the way, giving me peace of mind. There is a cost for this service in addition to the government's fee; also the submission process required both a printed photo and a digital one.

I paid HelloGov $297 for its advertised 2–3 week expedited passport service. Instead of completing the service within that timeframe, HelloGov held my original passport and government check for more than a month. During that time, the U.S. Department of State’s official passport-status website continued to show “Application Status: Not Available,” and I could not get clear confirmation that HelloGov had even submitted my application. It also took HelloGov approximately two weeks to respond to my inquiries about the location and status of my passport. Even after they finally responded, I still had to repeatedly pursue the company to obtain the refund I was owed for a service they failed to provide as advertised. This experience left me without my original passport, without a reliable update about my application, and worried about the location of sensitive personal documents. The lack of timely communication made an already serious situation even worse. Based on my experience, I would not recommend HelloGov for time-sensitive passport services. Consumers should be aware that HelloGov is a private third-party company and should carefully compare its fees and promises with the official U.S. Department of State passport process before sending original documents.
