What people say
Total disappointment
We enrolled our son in the in-person, full-day Python and AI Agent Camp because we expected him to learn directly from live instructors in a classroom environment. Instead of receiving instructor-led lessons, students learned through pre-packaged online learning materials at their own pace. They read the online instructions and completed coding exercises independently, while the instructor was primarily available to answer questions as needed. When I called the camp director to express my concerns, I was told that this is a self-paced learning camp. However, this was not clearly stated in the course description. Had we known that the camp relied almost entirely on self-directed online learning, we would not have chosen ID Tech. Another disappointment was the daily schedule. Students were given approximately 1.5 hours to play video games while the instructors took their legally required breaks. We tried hard to limit the video game time at home and did not expect the student to get 1.5 hours of free screen time at the camp. As a result, the actual learning time was only about 3.5 to 4 hours per day, despite being advertised as a full-day camp. Ultimately, we chose to skip the final day because there were no meaningful learning activities scheduled. Instead, the agenda consisted primarily of promotional and marketing events, including T-shirt distribution, raffles, a parent meet, and a family showcase. We did not feel it was worthwhile to make another two-hour round-trip commute for activities that were unrelated to learning. Overall, we feel that the camp did not deliver the in-person instructional experience that was represented in the course description. If the self-paced, online nature of the program had been communicated clearly from the beginning, we would have made a different decision. We hope ID Tech will provide more transparent descriptions of its camp format so families can make informed choices and have expectations that align with the actual experience.
3rd time attendee, first time disappointed.
This is our third year at ID tech and my kid really has loved the experience a begged to come back year after year. This year, however was filled with issues which have forced me to offer a less than glowing review. The camp ran out of robot parts and had to order more, so the kids spent 2 days not building robots as promised. It’s a robotics camp without robotics material?! Further, during those non-building days the kids were given a lot of time to play Roblox and they had the campers sign up for chat using facial biometrics without confirming this with parents. Red flag level privacy violation for my 11 yr old kid. As I said, I had been so happy with this program in the past. All that being said, my kid still enjoyed camp and loved the cal lunch. As for me, I’m not sure if we will be back next year.
The facilities at NYU were…
The facilities at NYU were underwhelming. The students really didn't have enough space to battle their bots. Parent communication was also lacking. There were no details given about what the students were learning throughout the week. No introduction was given to parents about the instructors. My child did not find the camp particularly special or different from other robotics camps he has participated in, which was disappointing given the high cost of tuition.
Nvidia and AI and ML course
During the Nvidia and AI and ML course, my grandson was struggling to keep up and resolve technical issues. When I contacted the Director at the Stanford campus they made an effort to determine what issues were preventiny my grandson from keeping up with the course over the several days the continued to communicate with me and provide me with information of my grandson's progress. Even though my grandson was was falling behind, his counselors and other staff helped him and encouraged him to focus and a small project which enabled him to resolve the technical issues and complete his project by the end of the course.
amazing experience
My son had an amazing experience at this tech and robotics camp! He looked forward to going every day, had so much fun, and learned a lot along the way. He made new friends, enjoyed the hands-on activities, and came home excited to share what he had built and discovered. The camp was very well organized, and the staff created a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. We couldn't be happier with the experience and would highly recommend it!
Horrible staff
We did ID tech last year and my son had a great time and learned a lot. This year was horrible. While my son received a diploma saying he had learned everything it was clear he had not accomplished any of the goals. When pressed he said he played Minecraft most days. I’m furious that he was essentially allowed to play video games his entire time and not kept on task with the class objectives. I am not even sure why he was allowed access to Minecraft when the class was not on that. For the money this program costs I would expect experienced teachers who can manage a classroom. We will not be attending again and will be telling everyone we know to avoid.
Good job of the staffs
The staffs including instructors and coordinators are very friendly and professional. I was so impressed by their responsibility and diligent.
A Fantastic STEM Experience Year After Year ⭐ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the fourth year our son has attended iD Tech Camp, and this year he enjoyed two sessions: Python coding and animation. He always comes home from camp excited to tell us how much he has learned, and this year was no exception. Thank you for continuing to nurture our child’s love of all things STEM! —A grateful parent
Successful 1st Week-long Overnight Summer Camp
I am so grateful that I signed my 12-year-old son up for ID Tech's week-long overnight BattleBots camp! It was his first time being away from home for an extended period, and all of us—including him—were anxious. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, helpful, laid-back, and incredibly positive. Even though everything exceeded our expectations, it was still hard to leave him there. Throughout the week, however, every phone call and text I received confirmed that he was genuinely happy and having an amazing time. Let me tell you... it is not easy to impress this kid! 😄 He never got homesick, already misses the three buffet-style meals they served every day, and is incredibly proud of everything he accomplished during the week. Parent Day was wonderful. The closing ceremony was so thoughtful, and it was meaningful to hear the instructor recognize each student's unique strengths and accomplishments. Although my son had his BattleBot fully built and operational before many of the other students—and even finished a day early—on Parent Day, the wheels suddenly stopped working. He worked patiently through several possible issues, from dead batteries to wiring problems. His instructor did everything she could to help, but she was understandably being pulled in many directions while assisting all of the students and their families. She was able to get the weapon system functioning again, but we couldn't get the drive wheels working. By then, it was over an hour after most families had already left, so I suggested we take it home and troubleshoot it together. Before we left, his instructor thoughtfully loaded the wiring diagram and other BattleBot resources onto his flash drive, which made continuing the project at home much easier. We really appreciated that extra effort. I highly recommend ID Tech's week-long overnight BattleBots camp. Our experience was overwhelmingly positive. I only have three suggestions that I think could make an already excellent program even better: Consider using more durable parts and wiring for the BattleBots. Have one or two additional staff members available on Parent Day to help answer questions and troubleshoot bots while the instructor is interacting with students and families. The camp description mentions learning to 3D print parts for the bots, but my son said they didn't cover that during the week. If that's no longer part of the curriculum, updating the description would help set accurate expectations. Thank you, ID Tech, for taking such wonderful care of my son. We all expected that he might struggle with homesickness, but instead he came home more confident, excited, and proud of what he had learned. He gained valuable new skills, wonderful memories, and an experience he'll remember for a long time. As a parent, I couldn't ask for much more than that.
Fantastic!
This was my son's third year attending ID Tech, and every year has been a wonderful experience. While he's always enjoyed the camp, this year was especially meaningful. He came in with some prior knowledge, but he was continually challenged and encouraged to step outside his comfort zone, learn from his mistakes, think critically, and persevere when things became difficult. His instructor, Jake, created a supportive and encouraging environment where my son felt comfortable asking questions, experimenting with new ideas, and growing his skills. It was incredible to see how much he learned—not just technically, but also in confidence and problem-solving. We're so grateful to Jake and the entire ID Tech team for providing such an inspiring learning experience. We would love for our son to continue attending ID Tech every summer for as long as he's eligible. Thank you for creating such an outstanding program for him and so many other kids!

There wasn’t as much learning as I expected. The last two days of camp didn’t involve any learning at all, or any construction - just fighting of the robots. I feel I paid too much for what I got.

Summer Academy Experience
We want to express our sincere appreciation to the iD Tech team for the exceptional experience provided this summer. We are very proud of his cognitive and psychological growth throughout the program. As this was his first time away from home and family in a foreign country, the welcoming environment helped him overcome his sensitivity to new settings and unfamiliar people. The Caltech campus and residential experience expanded his perspective and motivated him to pursue higher academic aspirations. The staff demonstrated both care and professionalism—remaining attentive to students’ needs while also encouraging independence and self‑discipline.
