Incorrect guidance and no meaningful accountability
I used Imigrata for a Portugal family reunification matter involving an AIMA appointment and the D6 visa route for my wife and child.
Imigrata’s handling created confusion, led to incorrect guidance, and was then followed by an attempt to avoid meaningful responsibility.
The service was presented as obtaining an AIMA appointment capable of advancing the family reunification process. In a case where the sponsor is in Portugal and the family members are outside Portugal, the expected result was a clear and usable appointment. What was obtained was not a clear sponsor appointment, but two appointments in the names of my wife and child abroad. This created the central ambiguity: were the appointments for them to attend in Portugal, or for me to attend on their behalf?
After the appointments were issued, Imigrata’s team advised me that the confirmations could be used to submit D6 visa applications through the Portuguese Consulate/BLS route. I specifically raised the concern that there was no AIMA approval/deferimento or electronic communication visible for the Consulate. Despite that, I was guided to proceed.
I relied on that guidance. My family incurred BLS visa fees, repeated travel between Settat, Casablanca, and Rabat, document costs, wasted time, and significant stress in a case involving long family separation and a dependent child with special needs.
The D6 route failed. Imigrata later acknowledged in writing that its team had made a mistake by advising that the appointment confirmation could already be used for D6 applications.
Imigrata’s narrow contractual defence is weak at the first step. If the contract is reduced to “obtaining an AIMA appointment,” the relevant question is what appointment was obtained. The result was not a clear sponsor appointment, but ambiguous appointments in the names of my wife and child abroad. Imigrata’s own acknowledgment of wrong D6 guidance confirms that the practical effect of the appointments was not properly understood by them either.
For that reason, I do not accept Imigrata’s attempt to treat the later D6 guidance as separate “free” assistance. It was a direct consequence of the unclear appointment result obtained through their own service, not a detached favour. Their argument tries to separate the bad advice from the unclear result that made the advice necessary. Even on its own terms, wrong professional guidance remains wrong professional guidance and still reflects on competence, diligence, and care.
Support continuity was also poor. Communication appeared to pass between different staff, and important details were repeatedly missed, minimized, or reframed.
After I provided a chronology and calculation of direct expenses, Imigrata refused reimbursement or any material remedy. Their offer was a complimentary AIMA appointment preparation service, which does not meaningfully address the harm caused by the incorrect D6 guidance, costs, or stress created.
Future clients should check the legal entity they are contracting with, its address, governing law, and complaint route. Imigrata’s website lists a Portugal office, but the contract I signed a few months ago listed an address outside the EU. I am not sure whether current contracts have changed, but this should be verified because enforcement and complaints may be harder when the contract is not clearly with a Portugal/EU-based entity.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Imigrata even for apparently standard immigration matters. What concerns me most is not only the incorrect guidance, but the way Imigrata defended it afterwards: by claiming that obtaining any appointment was enough, even though the result was unclear, and by treating the wrong guidance as separate unpaid assistance, even though it arose directly from the unclear result obtained through their own service. In my view, this reflects a deeper problem in basic legal judgment, contractual reasoning, and professional accountability.
Dear colleagues,
Big thank you for your great support during every step of my journey: from submitting the case to the court to checking documents and accompanying during submission to Immigration Authorities.
Communication was very clear and transparent, we signed official contract, all prices and payments were done according to the contract, no hidden amounts and unexpected payments. Timelines - kept and every question that I had was answered in a very professional way.
I am very much satisfied with the outcome of our collaboration and recommend this wonderful team with confidence!

Thanks soooo much IMIGRATA for helps…
Thanks soooo much IMIGRATA for helps and support. Everything was fine, I can’t imagine that we could get married just like that!) My hundred thanks for everything!
Having moved internationally many times, my husband and I feel we know how to recognize an excellent immigration lawyer/legal team.
So I can tell you now - Imigrata is one of them!
In our minds, the two requisites of an excellent immigration lawyer are competence and kindness (a caring disposition).
Imigrata combines both beautifully.
It is not easy to be an immigration lawyer/legal team in Portugal at this time. The challenges with AIMA, the Immigration Department, are many and varied and are not easy to navigate.
From my first contact with Imigrata, I found their team to be responsive, knowledgeable and kind.
We feel confident that Imigrata will help us secure an appointment with AIMA, which is what many of us need today in order to renew our residence permits.
So, in a nutshell, if you feel lost/overwhelmed/anxious trying to navigate challenges with immigration, I would encourage you to reach out to Imigrata. They communicate on What'sApp, which makes communication so easy and they always reply promptly. And it is important to note that their prices are more than reasonable. (I know - one lawyer quoted 6,000 Euros for a task that Imigrata is able to do for LESS than 1,000 Euros).
We are grateful to have found Imigrata and we hope others needing help will reach out and consider receiving their support. Maryanne Sea

The Best! They facilitate perfect, no stress weddings!
My now husband and I are Americans living in France. We really wanted to get married, but doing so is not an easy process—especially for immigrants.
I found Imigrata online and reached out to them to get married online. I gave them the date and time we wanted to marry. They took care of everything. They told me exactly what I needed and guided me every step of the way.
We got married on April 1st. After the wedding, they made sure we got certified copies of everything. We couldn’t be happier with their service. Everything went smoothly and we are now married. No stress weddings are the best, and these guys are the best!!

I had some doubts before working with…
I had some doubts before working with IMIGRATA, mainly because I’d previously had a bad experience with another company and was worried that, for this price, the service might turn out to be inadequate.
I was completely wrong. IMIGRATA showed a high level of expertise from the very beginning: they explained the process clearly, highlighted risks and nuances I hadn’t even considered, and always backed their recommendations with solid reasoning. Communication was timely, structured and professional.
What impressed me most is that their support did not stop once the “main” service was completed. They continued to answer my follow-up questions, helped clarify details and guided me through the next steps.
I’m very satisfied with the result and can confidently recommend IMIGRATA to anyone looking for knowledgeable, reliable and genuinely client-oriented immigration consultants.
I had a positive experience with Anna, a specialist in educational programs in Portugal. All my questions were answered. Her extensive experience and willingness to help were evident. I highly recommend her!
Ilya gave us an excellent consultation, thoroughly explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies. Thanks to our meeting, a problem that had previously felt difficult and unsolvable has now turned into a clear, actionable plan.
Guys did everything good, we got our slots. But the communication was not quite professional from the very beginning. And now we don’t understand if our son will get the residence permit, because Imigrata didn’t figure out the most important moment.
That was a super meeting. I have never ever mat such an approach to deliver complicated information in such a simple shape. It was easy to understand and pleasant to listen. Polina is a super specialist. Thank you

They canceled my visa application without my consent
I bought Imigrata’s “Full Support” (two payments). I ended up doing almost everything myself; from them I got just a couple of documents and the visa appointment. The contract says the second payment is due before starting Stage 2. Yet the day before my visa submission — when everything was already prepared — they invoiced Stage 2 and claimed it had already started because of a short prep call, while Stage 1 wasn’t even finished (NIF still pending). Given my uncertain case (my residence permit was close to expiring), I wasn’t ready to prepay for Stage 2 that I might not even need if the visa were refused. When I declined, they began demanding payment, threatened me with “Portuguese lawyers” (despite the contract’s Georgia, USA jurisdiction), and later sent a unilateral termination — without completing Stage 1.
I submitted my visa application on Sep 19, had my consular interview on Oct 1, and was waiting for the decision. Later I called the consulate to check status and was shocked to learn my application had been canceled back on Sep 26 from the e-Visa account email they controlled. The embassy shared the message they received — written as if by me and even starting with “Hello! My name is Maksim Alekseenko…”. I never wrote or authorized this; they impersonated me to cancel my case.
This wrecked my plans for the next year: I now have to renew my current residence permit first and only then reapply. That’s why this felt especially harmful and, in my view, vindictive. They present themselves as helping people relocate; in my case they did the opposite. I paid, received minimal value, and ended up with a canceled application I never asked to cancel. Strongly recommend avoiding this company.
------
Update after the company’s reply:
1. "We contacted the consulate for him." – Not true. I contacted the consulate myself (multiple times).
2. "Urgent work in 10 days." – They began their part only after I had prepared and sent all my documents. Most of the rush was on me. They told me to get a criminal record with an apostille; I would not have had time to obtain it, and they didn’t seem concerned. I checked with the consulate and learned the apostille wasn’t required.
3. "Free consultations." – I paid €49 for the first consultation. Later they offered to refund that fee in exchange for posting a review, which is generally against review-platform rules — this is why so many of their reviews are about the first consultation.
4. "He ignored us / breached the contract." – I replied promptly. The contract puts payment 2 before starting Stage 2; Stage 1 wasn’t complete (NIF), and I was never warned in advance that Stage 2 had "started". After several days of messages disputing this, they sent a unilateral termination presented as retroactive.
5. "We discontinued services, including cancellation." – The consular appointment belonged to Stage 1, which was paid. They canceled an already paid action and impersonated me to do it — in my view, that’s unlawful.
6. "Jurisdiction / accountability." – They operate via a U.S. entity while selling EU relocation. In my view, this setup appears designed to avoid potential EU court actions and accountability.

IMIGRATA has assisted over 2,000 families in relocating and beginning new lives in better places. We understand how important it is to start a new chapter abroad with honesty and transparency. Unfortunately, Mr. Alexeenko chose to begin his process through deceitful and dishonest behavior.
We initially reviewed his case and provided consultations free of charge, even contacting the consulate on his behalf to confirm that his application could be accepted and processed quickly. At that stage, Mr. Alexeenko had less than two weeks before his visa submission deadline — a situation in which most companies would refuse to assist. After receiving detailed guidance and recommendations from our team, he signed a binding agreement with IMIGRATA outlining the services to be provided and the payment schedule. Our payment structure is always flexible and transparent, with the first installment due at the start of the work and the second before document submission to the consulate.
IMIGRATA promptly prepared and finalized all of the client’s documents and booked a consular appointment. This urgent work was completed in just over ten days, including weekends. However, when asked to make the second scheduled payment before submission, Mr. Alexeenko stopped responding. He proceeded to submit his documents independently and ignored all further communication until we formally notified him of a breach of the agreement and informed him that our legal team was reviewing the matter.
Mr. Alexeenko later stated that he would pay “on his own terms,” after receiving his visa — a direct and material breach of contract. Despite our repeated attempts to resolve the issue amicably, he refused to comply. As a result, IMIGRATA issued a unilateral termination of the agreement due to non-payment and, in line with the contract terms, discontinued all services, including cancellation of the consulate submission.
P.S. Since the original complaint was updated by client with comments, we can attest that we have all the conversations saved in our CRM. The client is fudging the facts, he apparently never intended to pay us after the first stage. We kept writing for 3 days with no replies until we threatened with legal action. Imigrata did all the work included in stage 1, all the work was done within 10 days, which is not even possible under normal circumstances, his manager had to pause the work done for all other clients just to get this client his documents ready for submission. This is typical scam by client who tried to get through the system as fast as possible and not pay for full services he was provided.
