Hi there - I think you might have us confused with a different healthcare practice. We do not have a phone line and would never direct a patient to call us. We also see new patients within 48 hours, sometimes same-day. I'm sorry to hear about your hospitalization. I hope you receive the care you need, and are well.

My Honest Experience with Blossom Health

I found Blossom through Google Search because their website emphasizes making mental healthcare affordable and prominently advertises that “most patient copays are $0-$22.” My experience was very different. I have Blue Shield insurance with a high-deductible plan. Before my appointment, Blossom emailed me an estimated cost of $250-$350, and my final responsibility ended up being $266.14 after insurance processed the claim. The estimate was accurate, so I want to be fair about that. Where my experience fell short was everything surrounding the visit. The marketing creates an expectation that care will be inexpensive, but for patients with high-deductible plans, the actual cost can be hundreds of dollars. I don’t think that difference is communicated prominently enough compared to the affordability messaging. Another concern was Blossom’s cancellation policy. Patients are expected to provide 24 hours’ notice to avoid a $50 no-show or late cancellation fee. That policy seems reasonable in general, but it becomes confusing when patients are able to schedule appointments on the same day. If you book a same-day appointment, it’s not clear how you could ever satisfy a 24-hour cancellation requirement. I think that policy should be explained more clearly. After my initial consultation, I was prescribed only a 7-day supply of medication and was encouraged to schedule another follow-up consultation the following week. Based on my previous experience with ADHD providers, I had typically received a 30-day prescription after the initial evaluation with follow-up visits scheduled much less frequently. The proposed treatment plan would have resulted in another consultation charge almost immediately, making the overall cost much higher than I expected. I also had to make multiple requests before receiving my billing documentation. During that process, payment adjustments were processed before I had the documentation needed to understand the charges, which was frustrating. To Blossom’s credit, their support team responded professionally, escalated my concerns to management, and reviewed my request for a goodwill adjustment. Ultimately, they declined any adjustment. My advice to anyone considering Blossom is simple: if you have a high-deductible health plan, understand your expected costs, review the cancellation policy carefully, and ask detailed questions about the follow-up schedule before your first appointment. My experience may not be everyone’s, but it was very different from what I expected based on the company’s affordability messaging.

Hi there - thank you for the thoughtful and detailed note. While our average patient copay is ~$22, some patients have high deductible plans that require more out-of-pocket contributions until their annual deductible limit is met. If it were up to us, mental healthcare would be free for all patients, but unfortunately that's not how the US insurance system works today. We're obligated to collect from you the exact amount your insurance plan tells us to. As for the supply of stimulant medication, every situation is different, but sometimes our clinicians prescribe more conservatively with newer patients so that we have a chance to evaluate how you're responding to that potent medication before moving to a longer supply. That being said, we never want finances to come in the way of care, so if you choose to resume care with Blossom, your clinician may extend your medication supply to 30 days given your circumstances. Thanks again, for your honest and balanced feedback, and we hope you receive great care whether here at Blossom or elsewhere 🌸 ❤️

I am extremely disappointed with my…

I am extremely disappointed with my experience. A company that advertises itself as helping people with ADHD and anxiety should understand that mental health conditions and unexpected life events can make it difficult to attend appointments. I experienced a personal crisis and reached out before my appointment to explain my situation and reschedule. I was honest that my ADHD, combined with what I was going through, left me completely overwhelmed. Despite communicating this and asking for understanding, I was still charged a $100 missed appointment fee. What happened afterward was even more upsetting. I explained that I am facing serious financial hardship and could lose my apartment. I begged them to stop attempting to collect the disputed fee while it was being reviewed. Instead, I was repeatedly told they “understood” and would “look into it,” yet they continued submitting payment attempts against my account. The irony is hard to ignore. A mental health provider should recognize that people with ADHD and anxiety sometimes struggle during crises. Instead, I felt dismissed, unheard, and treated like a billing issue rather than a patient. Policies are important, but so are compassion, discretion, and common sense—especially in psychiatry. If you’re looking for a provider that genuinely supports patients through difficult moments, this was not my experience. Rather than helping reduce my anxiety, this experience made it significantly worse. I hope this company reevaluates how it handles situations involving patients experiencing genuine mental health and life crises.

They handle business...

[Update!] These people just screwed me over and it's important to know how they punish patients who have to reschedule. Every appointment costs $30.00. This is taken directly from your bank account. If you have an issue and need to reschedule then it's best if your issue happens 24 hours in advance of your appointment or else Blossom will bang you for $50.00. If you pull a no show on an appointment Blossom will rail you for $100. My morning started with someone from Blossom texting me repeatedly about confirming an appointment that was already set. Not long after I realized that I didn't have the $30.00 to cover the appointment fee so I requested if billing could wait one day until my pay went on. They couldn't. $30.00 and they need it right away I guess. This put me in a situation where no matter what I do, they're going to overdraft my account. I told them this. I attempted to reschedule my appointment more than 5 times and never received any response. My appointment time came and went, I sent the emails and texts ut still Blossom hit my account for $100. This put me in the red with my bank. They insist its their policy, that I'm in the wrong and whatever. So now I'm broke and still, at the time of this writing haven't had my appointment rescheduled. I thought they were better people than this, I thought wrong. I like when things are simplified and hassle free. Blossom stays on top of everything for me and I not only like that, I need it. I work a lot and often take on extra hours. I don't have a lot of free time some weeks and rembering appointments, dates, times is near impossible. I don't have to deal with any of that with Blossom. They send me texts the day before all the way up to an hour before my appointment. If I have to reschedule, I just text them and within 5 to 10 minutes they're either working on it or have already offered me new times to switch my appointment to. When I send them an email, they respond within the hour, with solutions not excuses. They handle business, plain and simple. My favorite thing about Blossom is they'll text me and see how I'm doing. They do this so that my doctor can have info about me during the interim of our sessions. They also do it because they care. I believe anyways. I just had a very good conversation with one of their support folks and it really helped. I'm thankful for that. Overall I think they're good people who sincerely care, most professional, they find solutions and solve problems and they just make things easier and faster by default.

The Care team is so quick and responsive. They were so supportive and speedy to adjust the medications when I unfortunately started having symptoms from a medication. They regularly checked in after the adjustment improved my condition with me having to prompt it. I genuinely appreciate the fact that Azkena doesn’t assume she knows everything and is very opened to additional help from other experts and doctors. She is very patient, attentive and conscientious. Highly recommended her, even you have a complicated diagnosis.

My provider recorded my session without…

My provider recorded my session without my expressed consent. I asked for the recording to be deleted. Blossom Health refused, and told me I signed a T&C agreement during onboarding that gave them permission to record. Technically, that is correct, but ethically they should still ask for consent before recording a session. I'm in a 2-party state as well. Also my provider wanted to label me with inaccurate conditions after about 8 mins of intake, and wanted to medicate me for them, rather than addressing the issues I was there for (neurodivergence). Overall I didn't have a good provider and it was made worse by their predatory digital policies. FYI they are funded by VCs so if you're okay with your most intimate data being collected and stored by SV investors, go ahead and use them for the convenience but your data privacy and safety is very much in jeopardy. They would not even acknowledge whether they used AI note taking via Zoom, or how long my video will be stored -- they now own it all and refuse to delete or provide any overview of how long they retain it. Never again, I'll stick to in-person providers.

Reply from Blossom Health2026-06-26

Hi there - these are good questions, and we're happy to shed more light on both the "what" and the "why" of our data and technology practices. 1. Patient privacy & security are foremost concerns for us. Any and all records are stored in secure, HIPAA-compliant environments. That extends to 3rd party technology vendors as well (which are covered under signed BAAs) like Amazon Web Services, etc. No information is ever shared with investors or anyone else who is not a HIPAA-covered entity or doesn't have a medically-appropriate need to access patient information. 2. By law, we must retain all patient records for at least 10 years. They cannot be destroyed or altered or deleted (even by patient request). 3. Consent to the use of technology is explained upfront during the onboarding process and agreed to by every patient prior to treatment. During the Zoom sessions themselves, there is also a prominent bright-red flashing "REC" indicator to make it abundantly clear that sessions are recorded for clinical assistance, quality control, and compliance purposes. 4. In general, we believe that technology can unlock better medical care for the tens of millions of Americans in need, especially in a severely underserved area like psychiatric mental healthcare. All medical decisions are ultimately made by licensed, board-certified clinicians, but by assisting and augmenting them with the latest cutting-edge technology, we can help improve the accuracy and precision of your treatment and ultimately deliver you better health outcomes. If you prefer an in-person, paper & pen psychiatrist, we totally understand that and respect your wishes. We hope you receive the care you need, whether that's at Blossom or elsewhere.

Excellent

Janet is truly an exceptional Nurse Practitioner. From the very first appointment, she made me feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. She takes the time to listen carefully, answers every question with patience, and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. Her compassion, professionalism, and extensive knowledge make every visit a positive experience. What sets Janet apart is how much she truly cares about her patients. She never makes you feel rushed and always ensures you leave feeling supported and confident about your care. It’s rare to find a provider who combines such clinical excellence with such kindness and empathy.
