What people say

LincStation N2: drives disconnect under load. Unreliable.

I use the N2 with TrueNAS and four Samsung 990 PRO 4 TB SSDs. I have experienced repeated NVMe drive disconnections during rsync backups. On one occasion, two drives disconnected simultaneously. They only reappear after powering the NAS off and back on. The failures have consistently coincided with CPU-intensive processes and periods of high temperature. The CPU reaches approximately 95–100°C under sustained load. I have adjusted the fan settings in the BIOS and tried positioning the unit vertically, but the disconnections continue. I have not confirmed the exact cause. Under these conditions, I cannot trust this unit to compress files, run a virtual machine, or handle other CPU-intensive services reliably. Reliability is essential for a NAS. In my experience, this N2 does not provide the stability needed to trust it with my data and backups.

Slow Shipping. VERY Slow.

After 2 weeks, my package seems to be stuck in San Antonio. Same status for 2 weeks. 'Picked up by 3rd party'. No movement, nothing. Attempted to contact the merchant 2x via email. *Update*. received today (11/20). SO slow shipping but it's here and complete

Good Value For Money

There's not many NVMe based NAS:et out there yet. And those who are (Asustor ie) are more expensive while running proprietary operating systems. This makes the LincStation N1 running standard Unraid a good value proposition for the intermediate user. If you're a power user you will soon be annoyed by the hamstrung PCIe lanes and the lack of high speed connectivity. But not even the most powerful custom build running TrueNAS can compete with the LincStation's sleek form factor and general value for money.
