UPDATE REVIEW AFTER MEERMIN'S REPLY: I actually like the shoe'S suede, and my cobbler pointed out that it is a legitimate suede and leather. The shoe itself is beautifully designed and looks good leather wise. It has some hand made features that gives it an artisan touch. The issue is on the finishing details on the welt joints, etc. That joint welt already chipping, etc., will continue once worn. I recommend that you spend more time on details like that than rushing as it appears that's was the case with this one. Also, I already paid for a free return when I ordered, so the refund you offered is not you doing anything special for me. I was going to get my free return/refund regardless, as I already paid the $5 and some change for that when I bought it.

Although we did not agree that the pair was defective, we still covered the return shipping and offered a free return for either an exchange for another pair or a full refund. As the pair was not considered defective, we were unable to offer the partial refund you requested instead of a return. Looking at logs, customer service responded promptly throughout our correspondence and carefully reviewed the concerns you raised. After assessing the pair, we explained that the areas in question are part of the welt construction and not a manufacturing defect. We appreciate your comments about the design and leather quality, even if we ultimately disagreed on the nature of the issue. Thank you again for your feedback. Meermin makes genuinely good shoes BUT (big but)
Meermin makes genuinely good shoes. This is my fourth or fifth purchase from them, and I keep coming back because the quality of the products is excellent. The craftsmanship and value are hard to argue with. Unfortunately, the buying, shipping, and customer service experience are consistently disappointing. Meermin charges for shipping, yet they continue to use some of the cheapest and least reliable carriers available. In my case, they repeatedly ship expensive $200–300 shoes through UniUni, and every order turns into a stressful experience. Tracking is unreliable, deliveries are inconsistent, and I find myself worrying whether my package will even arrive properly. What frustrates me most is that this isn’t a one-time issue. It has been the same across multiple purchases. At this point, it’s a pattern. To make matters worse, customer service is also lacking. When you’re already dealing with an unreliable delivery experience, you expect responsive and proactive support. Instead, the customer service experience feels slow, detached, and unhelpful, leaving customers to deal with the uncertainty on their own. For a direct-to-consumer company, the shipping experience is part of the product. Customers don’t just pay for the shoes, they pay for the entire purchasing experience, from checkout to delivery. If you’re charging premium prices for handcrafted footwear, you should also invest in premium logistics and customer support. I genuinely like Meermin’s products, which is why I keep coming back despite these issues. But I’m honestly getting tired of taking a gamble every time I place an order. The shoes deserve five stars. The overall customer experience does not. Until Meermin improves its shipping partners and customer service, I can’t recommend buying from them with complete confidence.

Excellent shoes for the price
Excellent shoes for the price. The quality of the leather, craftsmanship and Goodyear welt construction are hard to beat at this price point. They took a little time to break in, but now they’re very comfortable and feel like they’ll last for years. If you’re looking for premium dress shoes without paying luxury brand prices, Meermin offers outstanding value. Highly recommended.
Exceptional Customer Service and a Perfect Resolution
I had an excellent experience with Meermin and their customer service team. Since I am from Brazil and was unfamiliar with UK sizing and the Nova last, it took me a few exchanges to find the correct size. Throughout the entire process, the team was patient, helpful, and professional. When I finally received the correct size, the right shoe made an unusual squeaking noise. I waited about a month to see whether it would disappear with wear, but unfortunately, it did not. I contacted Meermin and sent the photos and videos they requested. They responded promptly and courteously, confirmed that the noise should not be happening, and quickly arranged to send me a replacement pair. The new pair arrived and is absolutely perfect. I am very grateful for the way Meermin supported me—not only in finding the right size, but also in resolving the problem with care and efficiency. Their customer service was reliable, attentive, and genuinely committed to making things right. I would confidently purchase from Meermin again.

I have very hard to fit feet and loafers are very unforgiving of a bad fit. Merman made it easy to exchange them for another size. The replacement shoes a full size smaller were perfect and very comfortable.
Quality at a good price
Smooth purchase and fast delivery. The C.F. Stead Superbuck suede and Flex Goodyear welted build feel genuinely premium, the Nova last is comfortable with no heel slip, and the rubber sole makes them practical in wet weather. Excellent value next to competitors at this quality.
