Our big buddy golden Cash passed away at age 12 suddenly about a month ago. The house was so quiet, and we decided to go ahead and find a golden pup.
My wife looked locally and then found the Pawrade website. We found a couple of pups and narrowed it down to one. On Sunday we decided to go forward and made contact with Pawrade.
Being in commercial construction my working life, I was used to contracts. So I wasn't intimidated by the 7 page document.
I will say it gave me a different feel for the transaction. Its very specific in its steps and prepayments, and other stated requirements. You should be prepared to understand the steps, and the time when you have to take them. Its very one sided, but understanding that many are a result of issues with customers over time.
The prepayment of the total amounts, including the transportation gives me some concern, Other concerns that have come up is the separation between the customer and the breeder. Its an odd feel to not have any contact prior to making such a purchase to ask pertinent question and have a feel for the owners and how they operate. We have had 4 goldens over the years, all locally bought, all we were able to visit the breeder, talk with them, see their operation, and see the litter. Add to it - the names they have on the website are not the names the breeder has for the pups. I suppose it is so you can't trace the dog to breeder on the web and make direct contact? Don't know for sure.
We understand now that the transport may take multiple days and stops. Again, I get it. You're not going to take them one at a time. BUT, it gives us pause (paws maybe?) and consideration for the 8 hr drive to pick our little guy up and not subject him to a multi day trip in a crate in the back of a truck.
This is new to us. Buying a pup sight unseen. I've bought multiple cars that way, but no dogs. We're going through with it. Here's what we'd tell you from where we're at -
1. Its a 3rd party transaction. Pawrade is an agent, this is a business. Don't kid yourself, their financials are protected and backed up.
2. Figure out the timelines of financial payments, signing the contract (its gotta be done in 24 hours)
3. Figure out the requirements of the contract after you get the dog home. They're specific.
4. Double check the billing. I unselected the 10 yr guarantee saving the total by $250 and it showed up correctly. Then when I selected submit, the deposit went up $250. We called immediately, were told that even though we unselected that choice, it still included it. We couldn't see the initial contract itemized build up anymore, and it was supposed to be sent. We haven't seen it yet.
Well, we'll see. I'll update this once we complete the transaction. As a business man who understands the business side of things, I give these guys a 4, with a chance to make it a 5 (or a -0-).
Execution is key to operations
This is a joke of a company. I saw the ad and I thought it was a sweet ad for a rescue only to find it was an overpriced company working as a go between for breeders. If you a certain dog, there are rescues almost everywhere for every dog you could want, that just need good homes and someone to love them. Rescue don't buy, especially from this company.

But do you really feel it is OK to just randomly choose to misrepresent our legitimate business with no actual knowledge of the service we perform? Some folks want a particular breed for valid reasons and they also want a puppy for their own personal reasons. We help them find the perfect puppy for them through a quality breeder and ensure it takes place through a completely safe and secure transaction. You are entitled to your beliefs and opinions but so are others without being unfairly attacked.

Our Experience With Pawrade — Proceed With Caution
Response to Pawrade’s Response
I want to clarify several statements in Pawrade’s response because they do not accurately reflect what happened.
Pawrade states that I “did receive all the relevant documentation at the time of delivery.” That is not my experience. I was not provided the complete veterinary certificate at delivery. I had to ask the breeder for it, and the document I initially received was not the complete form. I then requested it from Pawrade multiple times before finally receiving what appeared to be the full, uncropped version.
Pawrade also states that I questioned the documents despite them being verified as accurate. My questions were not without reason. I independently contacted the original veterinary clinic in Ohio, as Pawrade instructed me to do. I was informed that the vaccines were administered by the breeder, not that veterinary clinic. I was also informed that the breeder performed the microchip. This is exactly why I was trying to verify the records rather than simply accepting information I was given.
There are still documentation gaps. I have no documentation identifying who docked my puppy’s tail, and I have no documentation showing that his dewclaws were removed. His front dewclaws are visibly present. Pawrade now says this must be confirmed by my veterinarian, and I am doing exactly that at my upcoming appointment.
The listing specifically stated “Dewclaws Removed.” Therefore, this is not simply a matter of me questioning something without evidence. The advertised service and the physical condition of my puppy do not currently match, and I am obtaining veterinary documentation so it can be formally addressed.
Regarding the tax, I never claimed Pawrade controls the state’s tax rate. My concern was the transparency and itemization of the additional charge during the purchase. Saying that Stripe automatically calculates the tax does not address that concern.
Finally, Pawrade states that they delivered a “completely happy and healthy pup.” I agree that our puppy is happy, healthy, and very loved. He has never been the problem. My review concerns the purchasing process, documentation, representations made in the listing, and the amount of communication and follow-up required to get answers.
I am not claiming that Pawrade intentionally provided false documents, nor am I accusing anyone of altering anything. I am stating what I personally experienced: I had to repeatedly request documentation, independently verify information with the veterinarians, and I still have unresolved documentation discrepancies.
I will continue following Pawrade’s requested process and will update my review once my veterinarian has documented the dewclaws and the remaining issues have been addressed.

This review is leaving out a lot of important facts. First, the customer did receive all the relevant documentation at the time of delivery. She chose to question the accuracy or authenticity of the documents. We carefully reviewed the documents and ensured that they were in fact accurate. We would never knowingly provide any documents that were not completely accurate but we wanted to be sure we didn't make an honest mistake.
No matter what clarifying or defining information we provided it was always questioned by the customer. After making sure the customer had the correct contact information for the two vets the pup had seen we directed the customer to contact the vets herself so she could be sure of their accuracy and authenticity. The customer responded that she had done that and was awaiting a reply.
The customer states that she believes the pups front dew claws were not removed. This is something that has to be confirmed by an actual Veterinarian. The customer was advised that at their first vet appointment to have her vet note the condition of the dew claws. One she has these documents we will open a health guarantee claim to address this issue if it exists.
We absolutely disclose clearly and plainly every cost associated with the puppy. There is nothing hidden and no surprises. Actual final cost, minus tax is clearly displayed right on the original listing before purchase. We have ZERO control over applicable state tax. We use Stripe the worlds largest and most respected payment processor. They automatically assess the appropriate sales tax depending on the customers residency. This customer was absolutely charged appropriately. Again, we cant help what state taxes are charged. We assume that to be common knowledge.
It is important to note that we delivered to this customer a completely happy and heathy pup just as we promised. With no worries of being scammed or ripped off in a completely safe and secure transaction. Once the customer verifies that she has had all the relevant documents since delivery I hope she will come back and update this review.
We were connected with our puppy after looking at several puppies on the Pawrade website. Once we decided on our top 3 puppies, we were disappointed that our top choice had become unavailable. We continued down our list and did get our puppy. He was located within driving distance so we drove to pick him up. The breeder was kind enough to meet us part of the way and we received the puppy. Pawrade made the process very easy. It’s important to follow their guidelines and have the puppy evaluated by a veterinarian with 72 hrs of receipt so that all health guarantees will be honored. Aside from that, our new puppy is absolutely perfect!!! I’m so happy we chose to use Pawrade to add this little guy to our family.
