We found out what we thought was an infected claw was cancer on Duke our 10 year old, 90 lb Burmese mix He needed the toe amputated right away before it spread into his foot and leg. It was an expensive surgery and luckily my vet offered Scratchpay. It was an easy, simple application process. Being able to pay over time with Scratchplan and a skilled vet saved my dog’s life.🙏❤️🐾

Read the fine print and pay off before the interest hits you. It's a nice to have service provided because vet prices are outrageous, but expect sticker shock when paying off these loans.

Beware auto-pay is rigged beyond “interest-free” period

While this company positions their marketing engine around serving pet parents when they need it, their auto-pay system is rigged on the backend to intentionally structure the payment plans beyond the interest-free period, whereby an unknowing user will default and be subject to the 39% APR interest fees. This should be dealt with legally, frankly. A plan that establishes a six-month interest free structure should segment auto-payments to reach a balance of zero by the end of those six months. That’s servicing those in need. The system does not even let a user make those changes manually - the options are a) pay it off, b) manually log-in to pay a different one-time payment, or c) pay the pre-set meager minimum that runs for two years beyond any interest-free period. There is no disclaimer this is happening. There is no e-notice. You have to catch it. Luckily, I did. I can’t stand companies that lack ethics.

An amazing payment service. I use it for my vet appointments. They are extremely understanding and willing to work with you if you are running into hard times or are late with a payment. Will recommend and use again 💜

Im so grateful for this service! My cat needed emergency vet care during a week where I didnt have an extra 400. Scratch gave me a few more weeks to play with. Bean is fine, loan paid off ..happy endings!

I’m sure there is some business reason…

I’m sure there is some business reason this company caters to customers in desperate need of financial help with a pet that needs immediate care, and thought of a way to profit from that need. I’m sure they feel they are providing a service at loan shark rates. Maybe I should be more appreciative… so I appreciate that I have paid my debt and learned a little lesson too.

Convenient but unforgiving

It is a convenient way to avoid paying the full cost of a major surgery, and it is easy to set up, but it is very unforgiving. We missed a payment by one day and had to pay all the interest, even though we had planned to pay over the allotted 6 months. They would not make an exception and so we ended up having to pay quite a bit more. The customer service team was very nice but wouldn;t budge. We will use another service for our next surgery.
