Initial experience was great
Initial experience was great, but denied my loan without explanation then offered me one at a much higher rate AFTER doing a hard credit pull - which score was higher than initially reported.. Denied based on income, but didn't give me a change to respond in any way. My income is based on small business, so it's complicated. Really mad because thay could have denied my loan/resolved this before doing a hard credit pull.

My loan was supposed to pay out certain credit cards, and they paid double the amount on one, and none on another. Customer Service had me on hold for hours. I finally just had to get a paper check from my bank because SoFi refused to admit fault or help me

Deceptive referral program strategy
So I had been a fan and advocate of Sofi until this week. I decided to take advantage of their referral bonus program, I referred 7 people to them… they all signed up. The only thing it said they needed to do was load $50. Here’s the trick… they don’t show you your referral info in the supposed tracker.. it still says I only have 2 yet they’re customer service has verified all my referrals are showing as onboarded.. they all loaded funds through chime using the debit card funding feature…. This was not a peer to peer transfer.. however they did not count the loads … apparently you have to fund using the quick fund option at sign up to use debit card funding. That option is no longer available after money is loaded into the account so now you are stuck having to try to ach link through plaid to transfer or setup direct deposit. Theres absolutely no communication. 6/7 of my referrals have not “met” their invisible qualifications yet all have loaded $50. It’s deceptive practice at the very least and will be reported. Most of my referrals have tried to load finds 2 or 3 different ways and now ready to give up.

They call you early in the morning.
I filled out an application. Saved it, incompleted. This morning, at 8:52, I got a call from SoFi "on a recorded line. May I have your first and last name to confirm your identity?" Thinking something horrific had happened, I responded. The caller continued. "Yes, I'm calling to follow up on your student loan refi application." I strongly dislike being called before the work day starts. I like it even less when I'm still asleep when the phone starts ringing. And for it to be some garbage nothing of a call about an application I filled out to check rates? I deeply regret ever going near these people.

The only real problem I had is when it came to paying off credit cards and they wanted specifics. I pay my credit cards off each month in full. I was taking out a loan to pay for another home improvement project I called and the person was very helpful. They sent the check to my checking account and I paid the loan off.

I did most of everything online, so it was pretty easy. I did have a few questions, CS was easy to reach, however, not the easiest to understand.

Experience was ok. Getting the loan helped me a lot at this time. I did not particularly like the process as it took a little longer than I wanted, but it all worked out.
