I had a really positive experience with SpareRoom. I ran into a verification issue, but Zane was incredibly helpful and resolved it very quickly. It made the process much smoother, and I really appreciated the fast support! :]
Shannon was so caring and concerned. I'm an elder and not electronically savvy. I do best when someone coaches me to navigate your website. She took extra time to extend herself in that way and it made a big difference in my outlook and a better day! Tell her I appreciate her time and service. It meant so much to me!
I had an excellent experience with SpareRoom! I listed my room and found the ideal tenant in less than a week. The quality of applicants was outstanding, making it easy to find the right fit. I’ll definitely use SpareRoom again when my lease is up.
Hi Irina, thanks for your feedback! We do understand it can be frustrating when advertisers don't respond. In most cases, this is down to the high volume of interest that they may be receiving, and they have not had a chance to reply just yet.
If you've been in contact with someone via the website and they've not responded to your latest message, we'd advise dropping them another message just to be sure they've received it. We send notifications out instantly to inform when someone has received a message, which should help to prompt a response.
If you've a minute to spare, please get in touch with us by email at [email protected], and one of the team will be happy to look over your account and give any advice we can to help with your room search!
Best wishes,
The SpareRoom Team
Well designed interphase. My only wish was to get rid of the "professional" moniker and change it to "employed". What does professional mean?? You could be a professional at living off the dole. Employed is much preferred.
I eventually found a great roommate but it took awhile. My ad slipped to the 4th page and I had paid for extra clicks and a boost. It was misleading. But overall I think it's a great site to look for a roommate. Nothing like it anywhere else.
I found Spareroom to have a significant number of qualified applicants, a decent web platform, but without warning Spareroom canceled my account, and said I had to provide them a copy of a rental agreement authorizing another tenant to live on the premises, and I was requested for a copy of my ID. I did email a copy of my ID, and explained that the building management authorizes additional tenants based on criminal background reports, and that anyone wishing to share a place with me would have to authorize management to run a criminal background check as a condition of becoming an authorized tenant in the building. After emailing this info, I never heard back from Magdalena at Spareroom.
Not sure what to make of it, but it seems like Spareroom micromanages their advertisers. If they are genuinely concerned about legitimacy they would have already verified the authenticity by contacting responders who have viewed the place.
So far I never received a response back from this Magdalena so taking steps to advertise with other platforms.

Hi Dan, thank you for the feedback.
We'd like to assure you that we do not suspend accounts without careful consideration or good reason.
Your account would be suspended either because of a breach of our website Terms and Conditions or because you have failed to provide us with information our Site Moderation Team has requested during a routine check, something which all accounts are subject to.
If you'd like to discuss your account further, please reply to our latest email.
Best wishes,
The SpareRoom Team
The renew was so quick and easy I was surprised it was done with no questions! Let’s hope I’ll find a room this month!

RoomShare is Bueno, Padsplit is junk
I enjoy the service, yet have only one issue. Padsplit needs to go, as talk about having the wrong partner. They have to many rules and is made for investors. Which makes for an overall non friendly living situation. Grown adults don’t need curfews(As some do), you can enjoy the property. Just to bad you have to enjoy it alone. As NO GUEST or OVERNIGHTS. That rules out a fiancé that I would like to have over a night or two. My daughter can’t come to visit.
Other than Padsplits investors, so far I like what RoomShare has to offer
It works as advertised. I also appreciate the roommate meet and greets you guys set up.
One thing I have noticed however. It would be much clearer if the entire list of available places were written in text, hyperlinked, filterable and possibly a second database accessible of all the roomates interested in rooms and roommates.
