Beyond five stars: An encounter with true mastery and heart
Where do I even begin?
I came to Spines.com with a vision not just a book idea, but a deep, personal sense of what my words could mean in the world. And then I spoke with Jamie (Santiago). Let me be clear: this young man is not just a “book expert.” He is a divine, grounded, sharp-as-a-tack creative strategist wrapped in the warmth of a true collaborator. From Argentina, with an unmistakable clarity and calm masculine energy, Jamie heard me. Not politely, ... thoroughly. He saw the value in my vision before I finished explaining it. You know What sets Jamie and Spines apart? Its simple Execution.
He didn’t just offer encouragement. He broke down the entire plan, ... step by step, line by line, .... in the most concise, crystal clear, genuine, authentic, way , I have ever experienced. No fluff. No confusion. Just a luminous roadmap from where I am now to a finished book, I’ll be proud of.
And then , the offer. Over Over delivered. Generous. Strategic. So appealing I honestly I laughed with delight.
I left that conversation ecstatically elated. Blissful. Honored. Now im not just dreaming of future collaborations with the beautiful, brilliant team at Spines, I'm taking action!
Take away
If you have a book inside you, and you want someone who will honor it like the treasure it is, ask for Jamie (Santiago). You’ll feel the difference in the first two minutes. With deep gratitude,

Maurice, my publishing agent is fantastic. She continues to support me. My publishing team, all the team members. The marketing team are the best. I want to stick with them because my book is fantastic. I hope to publish more books with you.
What made our experience great was the consistency in communication, responsiveness, and the collaborative approach throughout the publishing process. Working with Lily was a major highlight. Even across different time zones, she stayed accessible through email and text, provided regular updates, and made sure timelines and revisions were clearly communicated.
Spines did a strong job creating a process that allowed the author’s voice and vision to remain centered from manuscript development through graphic design and final production. Feedback was handled thoughtfully and translated into actionable next steps, which helped us feel supported and heard throughout the process.
The company also does well with organization and follow-through. The workflow felt structured without feeling rigid, and there was a genuine sense that the team cared about the quality of the final product. As both the author and project manager, we were very pleased with the finished book and the overall professionalism of the experience.
First off, the good: Cover design was great. Formatting was done well.
The bad: It took 4 months from ready to publish to getting my book in print. It was up on Amazon on ebook format much earlier, but unfortunately that was an unedited, unformatted copy! Also, I have tried to contact the company both via email and through my portal for four months now. No response. Every time I send a message through my portal, the ticket gets closed with absoltely no rsponse. I emailed my rep ad nausum with no response. In fact, the only contact I have had was a notice to renew my membership. I was supposed to get the 'membership' free. Also, I have clients waiting for books. My rep said they would ship them direct for me, but that has not happened either. I have 2 manuscripts ready for print, but unless this company makes things right and changes the way they work with their authors, I will publish elsewhere.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you were happy with the cover design and formatting, though we are sorry to hear that your overall experience did not meet your expectations.
After reviewing your project history, your formatting process began in April 2025 and was approved on April 29, 2025. During the ebook review stage, our team explained that ebook formatting works differently from print formatting, since ebooks are designed to adjust across different devices, screen sizes, and reader settings. While the content should remain consistent, the layout of an ebook will not always mirror the print edition exactly.
Your publication request was submitted on June 18, 2025. The ebook went live on Amazon on June 30, 2025, and the print editions went live on July 14, 2025. Your author copies were received on August 11, 2025.
The publication process did take longer than planned, particularly between approval, publication, and receipt of author copies. We also recognize that communication after publication could have been clearer and more consistent. Support cases should include a clear update or next step, and we understand that this part of the experience caused frustration.
Regarding the proofreading and grammar concerns, our records show that proofreading was not included in your selected publishing plan. When those concerns were raised later in the process, our team provided a quote for proofreading support. We understand that discovering errors after publication can be frustrating, but proofreading and grammar corrections are separate from formatting and publication unless they are included in the plan or purchased as an additional service.
Regarding the membership renewal charge, our records do not show that a free renewal was included in your selected plan. However, we understand your concern and would be happy to discuss the renewal with you directly.
We appreciate the opportunity to resolve your concerns and look forward to working with you directly to address the issues you experienced.
Best regards,
The Spines Team
Spines Publishing is a great company to publish your book. It was my first book, and I found the experience to be non-eventful, no stress, and easy to work with my account manager. I recommend Spines for those who are publishing their first book. I find Spines to be a company I will use again. I am a published author as of May 7, 2026!

Congratulations on becoming a published author, Charles! We’re thrilled your first publishing experience with Spines was smooth, stress-free, and easy. 🚀
I was with another publisher which was horrible at communicating with me. The only time I got updates about my book was when I called and complained and then its was always the same information as before. I then switched to Spines and have been totally blown away with the professionalism and constant updates and support I receive. My only regret is that I didn’t call them first. So needless to say I am very pleased with my experience at Spines

Thank you so much, Jax! We’re truly honored to have been part of your first experience as an author. It means a lot to know that you felt supported throughout the process! 👑
I'm not really satisfied with the whole process. I think it was overpriced for what they have done. I was expecting to have somebody to really help me (as it was my first book I needed somebody with experience to guide me and recommend me what to do) but actually I had to do almost everything by myself at the end. Maybe this service is more for those who already know what they have to do and are not capable to do it by themselves.
And in fact I am re-publishing everything by myself now. So I've just thrown the money for nothing.

Dear Alexander,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that publishing a first book can feel unfamiliar, and our priority is for every author to feel supported throughout that journey. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
After reviewing your project, we would like to provide some context regarding the work completed. Your manuscript was received in August 2025 and, since it required translation from Italian to English, the translated version was completed later that month. From there, your book moved through proofreading, several rounds of adjustments, formatting, cover design, revision rounds, proof copy handling, and final publication.
The final proofreading was approved on October 3, formatting was completed and approved on October 23, and the cover design went through multiple rounds of feedback before final approval on November 13.
After the proof copy stage, you requested an additional cover revision. Although this came late in the process, our team provided that revision free of charge as a gesture of goodwill due to the delay while the book was under Amazon review. The revised cover was approved on February 9, the book was sent for publication on February 18, and it was published on March 11.
We understand that you expected a different level of hands-on guidance, particularly as a first-time author. At the same time, the agreed production steps were completed, including translation, proofreading, formatting, cover design, revisions, proof copy handling, and publication.
We appreciate the opportunity to have worked on your book and truly wish you continued success as you move forward with your publishing journey.
Warm regards,
The Spines Team
Everyone I’ve been in contact with at Spines has been very transparent on the actual journey that would be necessary in order to make my vision come to pass. Would highly recommend!
Starting with Gonzalez(sp) then to Silvi and to Cecelia. My experience with Spines has been so amazing. I would definitely use them in the future. They listened to my concerns and made solutions easy to understand.

I had an outstanding experience working with Natalia at Spines. From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive, attentive, and genuinely a pleasure to work with. She took the time to answer every one of my questions thoroughly and made sure I fully understood each step of the process. What stood out most was that she never rushed the conversation—she made sure I felt confident and completely satisfied before ending our calls.
The entire team at Spines also did an exceptional job bringing my book together. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to quality truly show in the final product. You can tell they care about the work they deliver and the people they serve.
I highly recommend Natalia and the Spines team to anyone looking for a supportive, professional, and high-quality publishing experience.

The translation from Hebrew to English…Translation method need a thorough change.
The translation from Hebrew to English was very bad. The human editor who was ment to check it, did a very poor job. There were whole paragraphs missing, sentences with a complete diffent meaning. I used chat gpt and pemini to get a decent translation. I invested tens of days corecting the work I paid to be done.
The formating and cover ddsign was good.
The service I receive from the progect manager is very good.

Dear Yonit,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
After reviewing your project, we would like to clarify that Spines did not provide a Hebrew-to-English translation for your book. The translation service completed as part of your project was from English to Spanish, and the Spanish audiobook manuscript was sent on May 6.
The concerns raised in your review appear to refer to a Hebrew-to-English translation, which was not a service completed by Spines. If there are any issues with the services or deliverables provided through your Spines project, we encourage you to contact our support team directly so we can review your concerns properly and assist where needed.
Our team is committed to addressing author concerns clearly and fairly, and we remain available to help with any matter related to the work completed by Spines.
Warm regards,
The Spines Team
Natalia made the entire process smooth and easy to understand from the beginning. She communicated clearly, responded quickly, and took the time to explain important details around formulation, compliance, and product positioning. What stood out the most was her professionalism and attention to detail, she made sure everything aligned with my vision while also guiding me in the right direction as a brand owner.
The company does a great job of balancing technical expertise with real support, which made me feel confident moving forward. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I would recommend working with her to anyone looking to develop a product in a structured and professional way.
