Positive energy and great customer experience
At first, my relationship with Spines was a bit of a struggle, as both the customer and employee sides were learning the process and building rapport. This started in January 2025. I actually had many doubts about the company. But I can happily say that since February 2025, a very positive relationship has been established once I began working with Sofi Lopez Ramondelli, Laura Molina, and Aaisha Nazeer. They each have a wonderful attitude and great attention to customer service needs. Please keep up the good work.

Project communication and management is key
I published my book through Spines and the outcome was successful—my book was formatted, the cover was finalized, and it was ultimately made live on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. That said, the process took more effort than it should have on the author side. Communication and continuity were inconsistent. I experienced delays between updates, had to follow up repeatedly for status, and there were points where expectations weren’t aligned (for example, what was included in the plan: formatting vs editorial/proofreading). There were also multiple handoffs across team members, which created rework and required me to consolidate change requests to keep the project moving. The strengths: once the right people were engaged, they addressed formatting issues, implemented corrections, and moved the project across the finish line. The team also helped clarify metadata items like BISAC and keywords as we approached publishing. My recommendation: Spines can get a book published, but authors should be prepared to manage the project closely, document all requests in writing, and push for clear timelines and scope confirmations up front.
Exceptional Support Throughout a Sensitive Publishing Process
I worked with Spines on the editing and publication of The Seventh Beggar: Notes from the House of the Detainees, a deeply personal book I originally wrote as a diary and later translated into English myself. Because of the nature and sensitivity of the text, it was extremely important to me that the editing be accurate, respectful, and faithful to my personal voice. Ofek Ben-Shabbat accompanied me with exceptional patience, sensitivity, and professionalism. He was attentive throughout the process, responded thoughtfully to my questions and requests, and gave me the genuine feeling that someone understood how important this book was to me. At one point, when an administrative issue arose, Ofek handled it with fairness, care, and genuine commitment. His involvement made a real difference and strengthened my confidence in the process. Without Ofek, I might have become discouraged along the way. Now, about two weeks after the book’s publication, and after receiving warm responses from readers, some of them with legal backgrounds, who praised the book as well written and fluent, I am happy to thank him wholeheartedly and warmly recommend his professional and dedicated guidance to other writers.
