I really appreciate the genuine learning and progress I am making with Stress Free German. I was at B1 level but my grammar was stuck at A2. Using this course I am fixing all the gaps in my grammar and finally making my fundamentals more secure. I look forward to moving on to Season 2 and beyond.
I’ve now completed all 8 volumes. I’ve been very impressed with the strides I’ve made in vocabulary, sentence structure, and knowing the correct gender often without having to think about it. I feel much better about expressing past tense and future tense. My biggest disappointment is that I’ve run out of runway. There is no volume 9 to continue working on b1 and b2. Here‘s hoping they continue the series.
I have taken German since high school -- and passed my proficiency exam for my PhD. And yet ... I struggle to make real progress in speaking the language. I have completed the free first series via podcast and am AMAZED at how I naturally understand how the gender of nouns influences and is influenced by sentence structure. This is better than Babbel, though if you have that subscription, this works differently AND helps propel you through that course.
After trying many, I can confidentially say that this is THE best German online course I had. The learning concept and technique along with visualization helps things naturally flow and stick. I highly recommend this course
I am in Volume I and this is great for beginners. He moves slow enough but I am still learning a lot of vocabulary and grammar. I highly recommend this as part of your learning German!
I think learning language is so hard as an adult and self learning through text book has a lot of obstacles not fully understanding the grammar and different rules we have to memorize. I heard German is one of the hardest language to learn, so I was honestly pretty stressed about it when I had to move for my job. But, I encountered stress free German and they made it so easy and simple to follow along. At first, I just listen to their audio like a podcast and it was so easy to remember their lessons. Then, I went back to listen to it again while following their transcript and also taking notes. I feel super confident and they’ve built a great foundational skill for me. I will definitely be purchasing all the volumes they have available!! I cannot recommend it enough!!
Excellent. Really looking forward to the other volumes considering how much I learnt from volume 1 alone. Very straightforward to follow. Excellent teaching methods used. This has been the only effective online German course that I have come across. You can listen to it in the car or when going for a walk etc making it perfect for those of us who have limited time in the day.
I feel so lucky to have found Stress Free German in my journey to learn this language. For me, it was more effective than face-to-face classes (in Germany), 1-1 tutoring, youtube videos or textbooks. After listening to the free episodes, I purchased the whole 8 volumes in December 2025. I have completed almost all of them within 4 months and passed Telc B1 test with good scores. It claims to prepare for A1 and A2 but it covers B1 level as well. It especially helps with speaking and listening, but also very good to build vocabulary, and to understand dativ-akkusativ- genitiv & other grammar concepts. I am planning to start over and complete all 8 volumes again in order to speak German more fluently. What can be improved: 1. The pdf files are color coded, but I have no idea what those colors represent. 2. It would be great to have all images as one downloadable pdf file, that way I could just look at all the images at once and try to recall the words and their gender fast. 3. Volumes 5 and 6 were too challenging for me, I just listened to them without understanding much. I almost gave-up. Volume 7 was easier than them. Not sure if other learners agree with me. 4. They often mention comprehensible input videos, I am not sure what they mean. Probably random youtube videos we watch to learn German on our own.
Excellent course. I've been trying to learn this blimmin' language for years, without much success. This is the only course I've stuck with, and, for the first time, I am making real progress. I am currently on Volume 4 and will continue with SFG until the end. One of the many things they do very well is explain the grammar and oddities of the German language. I also appreciate the English cognates they provide to help you remember the new vocabulary as it is introduced. Oh yes, and they are very helpful if you ever need to contact them to download the lessons on your iphone. 5 stars--all around excellent. The best out there I've found.

Oh wow, I’m really enjoying this. I went through Volume 1 twice just to properly wrap my head around the grammar, and it’s so different from any other online course I’ve taken. Visual grouping and Pattern recognition used in this course makes learning a language fun and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn German without the stress. I love Stress Free German! I’m learning so much more compared to just listening to a German podcast, or watching a video on YouTube. The lessons are structured very well, building upon each other, and they teach you how German woks. LOVE IT!!
I’ve completed all 20 lessons in Volume 1, and look forward to my driving time each day to learn more. I had four years of German in school, but was only confused by the changing of the supporting words for nouns. Now, I finally get it. I find myself substituting German phrases for English intermittently throughout my day, so I know it’s working. I just purchased Volumes 2-4 and will continue my studies.
I just stumbled upon stress free German and have finished the first 4 lessons and I am very impressed. Having used Duolingo with their BS competition theme and underhanded point purchasing scheme I gave up with that program. I have also used Babbel which I actual like a lot because of the focus on vocabulary and actual dialogue learning. Stress free German starts out with the very first lesson explaining and teaching how to identify and use masculine, feminine and neuter words which d Was the most frustrating part of using Duolingo. Based on just 4 lessons I would recommend Stressfree German to anyone who is curious about learning or is serious about learning German. So glad I found this program
I have been trying my hardest to learn the foundations of German grammar for years. I am conversationally fluent, having been around German family members, but I didn't grow up in Germany and we spoke other languages at home. I have given up many times on the hope of ever becoming competent in using German grammar correctly. Many courses, many books, many tears. I came across Stress Free German recently and did the first volume. Within two lessons, I felt hope for the first time, that I might actually "get it". I've completed volume one and have learned and integrated more than I have in all my previous attempts combined. I will be purchasing all of the available volumes. I listened to the first Volume (20 episodes). This went well, and the method worked really well. Especially the format where you can just listen to it on the go, once you open a picture that goes with the lesson. Looking forward to continuing with the next Volumes.
I am on Volume IV of SFG and in my opinion it is the best on-line course out there. It is so cleverly constructed - you learn and you don't even realise it. And it is perfect for those of us who don't love memorising grammmar rules - their method teaches you the rules without you noticing it. Very clever, indeed. Thank you, SFG, you guys rock.
I tried and was frustrated with multiple methods. This one works and is really stress free. Learning is easy, effective and the information is retained. I really am enjoying the process and it is not tedious like other methods.
I’ve never seen such a smart way of learning and memorizing!! I’m mesmerized with this app I already recommended it to 3 of my friends and they’re wooowed with this! It’s an invention to anyone wants to master German ,, and to be honest I just love the tutor he is friendly, funny and to the point
