Paid for a 3-day software project, but after 9 days it was still incomplete and support did not resolve it
I am a customer from Brazil, and I am posting this review because the support provided for my case has not resulted in a solution.
I hired a freelancer through Workana for a custom WooCommerce-to-Shopify integration project. The agreed delivery deadline was 3 days, as documented in the Workana project chat.
I paid BRL 1,800.00 and released the payment believing the project had been completed. However, after real-world testing, serious technical problems became apparent and the system could not be used as intended.
The issues included incorrect handling of WooCommerce product IDs in Shopify orders, inability to correctly identify a real purchase, missing information on the server, and problems with the agreed intermediary-domain workflow.
The freelancer later acknowledged that there were still problems and stated:
“I will check what is still pending and resolve it.”
This confirms that the project was not fully completed.
The freelancer stopped responding from Friday until July 20, 2026, at approximately 7:07 PM. He only resumed contact after I informed him that I intended to dispute the payment and after I formally documented the issue in the Workana project chat.
By that point, 9 days had passed on a project that was supposed to be completed within 3 days, and I still had an incomplete and non-functional system.
I also contacted Workana Support, followed their instructions, submitted screenshots and evidence, and requested cancellation and a full refund.
My Workana support ticket is #1746037.
Despite all the evidence submitted, Workana did not provide an effective solution. Their position was that because the payment had already been released, their options were limited, and they suggested that I continue working with the freelancer.
I do not consider this acceptable. I released the payment believing the project was completed. The serious defects only became clear after testing, and the freelancer’s own later statements confirmed that work was still pending.
I have therefore already initiated a consumer complaint in Brazil against Workana Serviços de Internet Brasil Ltda., CNPJ 20.696.786/0001-30.
The matter is now being handled through PROCON, a Brazilian consumer-protection authority used to mediate disputes between consumers and companies. The complaint is already active, and I am waiting for Workana to provide an official response and solution.
I also paid for the service using a U.S.-issued card through Mercury and have initiated a payment dispute. I am preserving all communications, screenshots, payment records, project-chat messages and support correspondence as evidence.
If this matter cannot be resolved through PROCON, the payment dispute, or Workana’s support process, I will evaluate the appropriate legal remedies available to me in Brazil and, where applicable, in the United States.
I am not asking for additional development or corrections. I am requesting cancellation of the project and a full refund of BRL 1,800.00.

A Professional Platform for Connecting Freelancers and Clients
I have had a positive experience using Workana as a platform for professional collaboration between freelancers and clients. The platform provides a structured environment that makes it easier to discover projects, communicate with clients, and manage freelance opportunities efficiently.
One of the strongest aspects of Workana is the variety of projects available across different industries, allowing professionals with different skills and backgrounds to find suitable opportunities. The platform also helps create a more organized workflow between clients and freelancers through its project management and communication features.
I appreciate the effort Workana puts into creating a secure and professional marketplace where businesses can find qualified talent and freelancers can showcase their expertise.
Overall, Workana is a valuable platform for freelancers and companies looking for reliable collaboration opportunities. With continuous improvements and innovation, it has the potential to become an even stronger global freelance marketplace.
No support for new freelancers
Okay enough to have a profile but don't waste your money on subscriptions as you won't get any work because of that. Also, you'll have no support to get work/opportunities.
English: I've been scammed, and I can prove it. The freelancer Gabriel Maciel (Creative Writer, Editor, Translator, and Voice-Over Artist from Brazil) started reporting dozens of hours he didn't work. I was automatically charged for them. I contacted the freelancer, but he didn't respond. I contacted Workana support, and they gave me a link explaining how hourly projects work. They didn't resolve anything, even though I've been a Workana customer for years. I'm still waiting for Workana to refund my money and take action against this freelancer, who should be banned from the platform. I can provide screenshots, the bank transaction showing the money I was scammed out of my account, the link to the project, the link to the freelancer, and the link to the Workana bank statement showing the fraud.
My freelancer account and my client’s account were both suspended while we were actively working on an ongoing project that had been running for several years on this platform.
The suspension was applied without prior notification or warning.
A critical issue is that the account suspension occurred immediately following the client’s release of a milestone payment on the project. Throughout the entire period, I worked exclusively with this single client, whom I also introduced to the platform. We have relied fully on the platform’s escrow system for secure payments and have not used any external payment methods.
Since the suspension, both the client and I have submitted multiple support requests asking for a clear explanation of the account closures and a transparent breakdown of how the remaining funds are being handled. However, we have not received any meaningful response, and the funds remain neither released nor refunded.
At this stage, the lack of communication, transparency, and resolution has caused serious disruption to an ongoing professional engagement and financial arrangements.
Looks like fully scammer!
Workana has been a very positive platform for me as a freelancer. The interface is easy to use, project opportunities are clear, and the payment process has been smooth. It has helped me connect with clients and grow my work consistently. Overall, I’ve had a very good experience and I would recommend it to other freelancers looking for remote projects.
Eight months of diligent work, glowing client feedback, and playing by every single rule in Workana's rule book, including refusing to share outside contact info because, you know, policy. Turns out following the rules is the fastest way to get banned here. Who knew?
Here's the masterclass in platform management: my client's $800 payment failed (twice — banks are hard, apparently). Workana's solution? Instantly ban the client. Then, just for good measure, ban me too. No explanation. No appeal. Just vibes.
And the cherry on top, they kept every cent of the balance from my previous, completed, paid-for project. So let's recap: I delivered the work, they kept the money, the client lost his freelancer mid-urgent-project and had to scramble to another platform, and Workana... did absolutely nothing except prove they can make two people lose simultaneously. Efficient, really.
Truly impressive business model
Alienate the freelancer, terrify the client, pocket the cash, and call it a day. I didn't know scorched earth was a customer retention strategy, but here we are.
Save yourself the eight months. Save yourself the $800. Save yourself the mystery ban with zero customer support. There are plenty of platforms that don't treat "a card got declined" as a hanging offense.
Workana is not a marketplace, a magic trick
Watch your money and your account both disappear.
Banned with no explanation and they're holding my money
I worked on Workana for two months — honestly, professionally, delivering for clients — and out of nowhere my account was banned with no clear explanation given to me. Worse, I still have a balance sitting in my account that they have not paid out. So I've done the work, but Workana has both locked me out and kept money that's owed to me.
I've tried to get answers and gotten nothing useful back. Banning an account is one thing, but withholding earnings someone has already worked for is completely unacceptable. If a platform can take your account and your balance with no real explanation and no recourse, then no freelancer's income is safe on it.
I would warn anyone considering Workana: your account and your money can disappear without warning. Until they explain bans clearly and release balances people have earned, I cannot recommend this platform to anyone.
So far, I've had a good experience. The platform is easy to use and has allowed me to connect with interesting professionals. I'm still learning and exploring opportunities, but overall, I'm very happy with Workana.
Workana has been an outstanding platform throughout my freelance career. It’s one of the strongest options in Latin America, particularly for Spanish‑speaking professionals. I’ve been part of the platform since 2017, and my experience has always been excellent.
Workana is an exceptional platform for freelancers
Workana is an exceptional platform for freelancers, particularly those looking to engage with clients in Latin America. The quality of clients available is consistently high, making it an ideal marketplace for professional opportunities in the LATAM region.
Really shitful platform
Workana disabled my account without any reasons or explanation, notify.
Also regarding my message to support team still not get any replies.
And this is another mistake of this platform.
Even if a freelancer is interested in a project but has no intention of working with the client, they are still obligated to accept the project once the client accepts their bid.
Some clients dont hesitate to post fake job listings or leave negative reviews for freelancers.
In light of these issues, I recommend exploring other freelancing platforms instead.
Poor platform, low-paying projects, and frustrating payment system
Workana has been one of the worst freelance platforms I have used. The platform does not properly filter projects or clients, and many job postings are vague or unrealistic. In many cases, clients do not even know what they need or what they are asking for.
As a freelancer, you can spend hours sending hundreds of proposals and most clients never reply. The payment rates are extremely low, making it very difficult to earn a fair income for professional work.
The worst part is the payment system through Payoneer. Workana does not clearly warn users that you need at least $500 available before withdrawing funds, withdrawals are limited to once per month, and the fees are excessive.
Overall, I would not recommend this platform to freelancers who genuinely need stable income opportunities. It feels exploitative and poorly managed.
